Interesting to note that it once had a Redfield or Lyman receiver peep sight on it.
(Rear bridge drilled & tapped, stock cut out and then patched back in.)

Grandpaw must have up-graded to a Weaver scope at some point!

I don't think it's a variable scope. It looks like a K model, maybe a K-4. Weaver made a bunch of those. I would not be surprised if Weaver would repair that old scope for you, and bring it back to spec. Email them with the scope information, it's probably under the rings. Those Weaver scopes were reliable units.

The new Weaver company owned by Meade, has nothing to do with the old Weaver El Paso company that made steel tube K model scopes.
I don't think they have repaired scopes since they were really making Weaver scopes and went out of business.

I tried to get them to fix a steel K-4 several years ago and they told me then they didn't work on "real" El Paso Weaver scopes any longer.

Ironsight Inc. now has all the old Weaver Company parts.

Thanks for all the help guys. I got the bolt apart for the cleaning with the use of one of a few of the other threads on here. Just as a note for you guys if you come across anyone else who needs help here is what I noticed. My bolt says Mark II on the back (if you care about that) the mauser instructions dont work I believe that is because of a post I read about having the change the bolt due to the saftey would not be compatible with a scope. the reason those didnt work was because there is no middle position. it is either full safe or no safe. the Ruger M77 instructions dont work (not because they left teh crucial part out of the instructions about the pin hole for stoping the fireing pin's location) but because the hole isnt there. When I was unscrewing the rear half counter clockwise like with both sets of directions. I noted that with the safety on it will not unscrew and with the saftey off it reseases the fireing pin and you cant unscrew. I then looked for the pin hole as with the Mark II and it wasnt there. I ended up useing one of my Miniture electronic screw drivers to place between the firing mechanisim and a ridge inside the housing that allowed for the pin to be held back while unscrewing the housing and at the same time not holding it back so far as to prevent it from turn Like the saftey does. other than that the instructions were similar enough to be accurate and worked for me.

Now to just get the dust off and find some AMMO... any ideas on when that is gonna be?
Thanks for all the help.
Joe
