Need some info on an old .22

The stock is rough. The lever needs a spring to keep it closed. The firing pin seems to have been repaired with a machine screw. It's probably a piece of junk but it's something my dad's had for around 50 years. I'd like to fix it up and take him shooting.

Any ideas on value, where to get parts or any other info would be appreciated!

It cant be worth a whole lot. My grandpa has one he keeps his garden woodchuck free with. They are a cool rifle that I enjoy shooting and would hate to see yours go to waste.

Damn, this must have been a common thing to do. I have a Stevens Model 14 & 1/2 that also had the screw in the firing pin hole. This doesn't repair the gun, it renders it incapable for being fired. Some idiot turned it into a toy for the grandkid.

I spent about 7 years searching for a replacement breech block. Finally found one at show for $5 and it put my rifle back into firing condition. You are facing the same dilemma.

Here's mine after polishing the metal and applying a cold blue and refinishing the stock.

This gun fires! We shot one round into an oak tree in the back yard when I was a kid. But just because it works doesn't mean it's safe, especially without the spring that keeps the lever up and the action closed.

That looks like the Stevens Crack Shot that we used when my Dad first taught me to shoot.

They're neat little rifles. I wish I had a link for repair parts to offer you. I'll add, though, that I've seen posts suggesting that the metal might be kind of soft, but I don't have any real data.

Ols Stevens Favorites and Crack Shot rifles were very prone to firing pin failures. I had one that needed a pin also. An older 'smith told me he had replaced dozens of them.

As for the worth of the rifle, it's not worth anything in $$$....but the "Smile Value" is something to consider. They're great little rifles to hang above the fireplace.
