View attachment 853762 Greetings,

Been a THR member since 2002 IIRC, have gained valuable information over the years in our world of shooting, reloads, self defense etc.

Due to health reasons, I've decided to thin the herd. Over the years I've seen family members get skinned by Estate Buyers who pay a fraction of the worth of items and decided that won't happen with me. My exes get nothing, my GF will be taken care of (she takes great care of me) and my sons are too busy with their own lives as they should be. Neither one are die-hard shooters though they both served in the military and son #2 is SF but to him weapons are tools and he's happy with his one 9mm sidearm and M4. Son #1 is a former Navy Electrician and once his enlistment was over signed his life (via marriage) to a very pretty shrew who will eventually make his life miserable and I'm not leaving him anything as she will just sell it for Jewellery or other nonsense.

I'm including a picture and I would appreciate how much you would be willing to pay for the lot, I refuse to sell these weapons individually.

The Marlin is a JM, .357
The other two are Ruger New Old Model .357 (that fire Ruger Only rounds unlike the new crap Ruger put out a few years ago).

These haven't exactly been safe queens but they have rarely been shot.

My next post will deal with accessories but for now just the guns.

Appreciate your input.

Loads that would not be safe in any other gun basically. I would never shoot a 180gr in my K frame for example.

I'm not sure I follow. Ruger makes a dincky little LCR that shoots .357. I believe there are also J frames that shoot .357. What gives?

Not trying to be confrontational just seeking knowledge.

I'll give you $1000.00 for the set.

Now... since we're friends and all... to be honest...... I'm only interested in the Marlin

So my plan is to sell the 2 pistols fairly quick and have the Marlin left over at a really great price.

As a set... for that set... you're going to get lowball offers.

I will take that offer into consideration, thanks for the real reply although I do have to say that it cost me quite a bit more than your offer.

Convenience. Marlin will go by itself for around $850 (that's the low end on GB). I don't want or need the Rugers so the incentive to getting rid of the Rugers is you also get the Marlin.

Hmmmm, must be a regional thing. Locally, nice old JMs, '94 Winchesters, and even '99 Savages sit unsold for months at the gun and pawn shops- unless I buy them anyway.

Maybe its because theres very little game in FL worth hunting with a centerfire rifle.....

I would sell them separately as for me, I would only be interested in the lever action unless the total package price was really good.

Hogs and deer come to mind

Hogs and deer come to mind
Hog isnt much fun- mostly just pest removal, and the deer are small, rare, and highly regulated.

Also virtually no public hunting land.....

Really, waterfowl is about the best gun hunting here, though Gator and Python is popular with bangstick and tether-bow.

Whatever the reason, lever guns just dont seem to sell well or command high prices around here.

Deer highly regulated? You can run them with dogs and take more than one per year - unlike those folks out West (where I used to live) where you apply for a tag and MAYBE get one and then only in the unit you applied for. Hunting deer from a stand would make a 357 lever gun pretty cool

I agree with NIGHTLORD40Ks assessment of about $450 to $500 each for the two Ruger Vaqueros and the Marlin Model 1894. Selling them separately would probably net you more money though as FROGO207 pointed out somebody starting out in Cowboy Action Shooting competition might want the pair of Vaqueros. Just need the right buyer to come along.

Another way to go is to see if any local gun shops do consignment sales. You set the prices and the dealer takes it from there. Usually its 10 or 15% of the sold price and the dealer handles all of the paperwork. Sometimes for a little bit higher percentage the dealer will list them with some of the online auction sites.

I am sure you already know this but...you the seller sets the terms, and the buyer sets the sale price.....

Your terms are all or nothing...

People buy sets or multiples to get the individual price lowered.

Someone offered $1000 ( dont know if serious or not) but if you want one buyer for all, you will land in that neighborhood....which is probably about where someone who intends to flip one or two will NEED to be to make it worth their time.

You want closer to full price, break it up.

$1,000 would be reasonable for the package. You would be able to get $200 or $300 more selling separately. Someone buying the whole package will want a good deal and will probably sell of 1 or 2 of the guns.

Agreed. About 4 years ago, I got an 1894 from GB that, with the shipping and transfer fees, cost me close to $900. The serial number indicated the gun was made in 1994 and IS a "JM" stamped one. Your price sounds reasonable.

Somebody beat me to it as I was also going to suggest "pest control" on feral hogs. Oh well.

I was the one that offered $1000. I'm not even good with prices and I know it's low.

And my offer was at least half serious:D

Seriously, it seems the OP could get $1500 pretty quick if sold separately.

Heck, I'll even guess it'll be harder to sell as a set AND you'll get less money than if you sold them separately.

Nice guns though.

Good luck in what ever you decide.

I voted no.
If the six guns were a matching pair, of course you could sell them together. But with one being stainless and one blued, you'd likely be better off to separate.
The lever gun is going to go fast I imagine. I know if I had the funds, I'd be making an offer myself.
