Because it's the only thing I can get Primers for. Of course 10 rounds probably uses a pound of powder creating a new problem.
I get about 32 rounds/pound (205 grains). You can get good prices on AP and Ball bullets at GunBroker. I have AP's on sale there right now. GB also has lots of loaded ammo lots cheaper than you can buy loading equipment. I'm close to selling my stuff.
5 jugs = 1100 rounds @ 250 grains/per 4 jugs = 1100 rounds @ 200 grains/per lol...50s love lots of powder.
I think NERF makes something close to .50 caliber. The dart ones anyway...chasing them down is easier than finding lost brass, and they're re-useable. OTOH, you'll need to make your own "kaboom" sound.
Yeah, I do think the NERF ones lack the range of a real BMG...but I did stick a NERF dart in my sister in law's ear from the couch while she was at the kitchen table. A legit 25 feet. It pretty much fell right back out though, so over penetration isn't a huge concern.
Airsoft will not let you down.. but if you need real 50 BMG, you can get live rounds under 3 dollars a round https://ammoempire.com/node/3978
The last 650gr I bought was a black Friday sale a couple of years ago for 1.79$ ea 5 box limit so I and my friends purchased some, before that I was able to get mil surplus for less than 1$ea, I can't purchase the components and reload for those prices. My last Armalite AR50 came with 14 boxes and I don't go out plinking with it so that will last my a while
I'm able to reload 660 Grain M33 Ball for .91 each (from 2019 component costs) and M8 API are even cheaper as I paid ~40 cents per pulled projectile Cheapest I bought new ammo was 230/100 for Lake City M33 Ball in a 50 cal box.
I hope this is the right place for this post. If you lived in north central ohio I could set you up with bullets brass and powder pm me if your close
You have to be extremely careful with tracer or other incendiary rounds. Just wait till you start a grass fire at the gun club. Man do you ever look dumb!!!! BTDT- Just as easily burn down someones house with the grass fire. The bullets may be cheap, but you can only shoot them on the desert or in the rain, or maybe Knob Creek. Stick to ball or AP rounds. IMR5010 - 8 lb jug was $49 a few years ago. Still have some left.
I have a Barrett M82A1 - it has a Nightforce NXS 5.5-22x56 HS Zero Stop MLR Reticle scope (mrads) on it, Barrett rings, monopod ,hard case, soft case. I also have 100-200 rounds and maybe 100 spent cases. It is actually quite cheap to shoot - go to the range, shoot a few (less than 10) rounds and go home. Quite a bit cheaper than blasting 200-300 9mm at todays prices Like most things I own -....everything is for sale
I shot the M2 .50cal at Fort Carson... probably the most fun you can have with your clothes still on.
Went through Basic and AIT at FLW... only got up to the M60... which was fun, too, but not like the M2! I liked FLW so much, I bought the sign...
