Never know what you’re going to find

OMG, just when you thought the man couldn't have anymore...he comes up with another treasure. Dare I ask about the rifles that I saw in the last picture?

Until you opened THAT door I felt that I had a chance of catching up with you. Now I am doomed to be always following.:p Thanks again for taking us along on this (temporary) spiff up in your cave.:D

I’ve stopped being surprised.
When Gunny finds a tank or a F4U Corsair I’ll then return to being surprised.

I don't know, Gunny seems more like an A-10 sort of guy to me. Or maybe one of those airplanes that dad told me about from Vietnam with all kinds of firepower on each side and they would circle an area leaving nothing but destruction on the ground. I think he called it a Puff

Probably
Many don’t know the Corsair was the first real attack aircraft. It was so effective that it was used into the 1960s. Lessons learned from them were used in the development of the A10.

That said, I don’t think the Marines ever used A10s. I may be mistaken as I haven’t done much research on them as the Corsair is my favorite plane.

Now with the insane firepower of the A10 it wouldn’t surprise me if Gunny somehow got hold of one somehow. Hell come to think of it, I wouldn’t be surprised if he somehow has a WWII vintage aircraft carrier.

IIRC and feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, but the A-10 Warthog is an Air Force craft and not allowed in Marine hands. But I have it on good authority any of the pilots of those craft are considered honorary infantry whenever they take part in a "social gathering" in a war zone.

The F4U Corsair is my favorite WWII plane, but I just don't have the room to keep one. :(

But I do have room for one of these. Too bad I can't buy one with the guns.

I think I will go to Home Depot and pick up another shelf unit this week. That way I can pull out some more stuff and have a place to put it.

21st Century toys used to make an awesome 1/18 scale AH1S toy/model- I had to sell mine, but they still pop up on Ebay from time to time. They are about 3 feet long and run $100-150.
They made a very nice 1/18 F4U Corsair too with folding wings and retractable gear- these can be found for $80 to $120 in nice shape.

Typically a converted DC3 transport plane: "Puff the Magic Dragon" as anything it touched disappeared....;)

The A10 would have been awesome in Marine Close Air Support. It took the Air Force Pointy Nosed guys a while to figure out that low and slow isn't bad in CAS. The Corsair was awesome, but one from WWII era that didn't make it to service in time really shined in CAS in Vietnam - the A1 Skyraider. Both the Navy and Air Force flew them at various times in the war. There are a lot of similarities in the concept and design from the Skyraider to the Warthog. Lots of stations under the wings for ordnance, lots of armor around the cockpit area, long loiter times on target.
