One of the nicest older .22LR bolt-actions. I found one at a gun show about 15 years ago and absolutely LOVE it! It's my go-to, around the house, varmint rifle. It's taken several woodchucks, red squirrel "bird feeder" robbers, skunks, etc..

If you can find one, a Remington Model 504 was a nice .22 sporter in the "classic" configuration style stock. You can get one in excellent condition for not much over four hundred bucks. Mine is very accurate for what it is (not a "target" specific rifle).

We want to know if you found something that you like. Pictures and a range report would be nice. No judgment on your choice.

Still considering, stopped by the LGS last weekend, but pickins were slim. Also, got some financial liability to get taken care of first, so not sure when it will happen, but if/when I get it, I'll be sure to share.

I have one just like it, even with receiver sights. One of my favorite plinker/informal offhand target rifles. JP

Used to be one could find several Used ,ANSCHUTZ, WALTHER'S and Winchester Model 52's for REASONABLE prices . Even if they needed re-barreling they were bargains for they're accuracy . Sadly Nothing's a bargain anymore ,IMO .
I would scour used offerings and IF noting was available in My price range ,go with a Savage . Savage is one SAVOY Firearms manufacturer ,again IMO .

It may not fully realize your accuracy expectations, but bedding the receiver and floating the barrel well can make it shoot nicely. Savage has a reputation for making good barrels. Stocks and metal finish aren't anything to brag about.

The worst-shooting rifle I've had was a Savage semi-auto, but I'd never shot for groups until the bore was about shot out. The target at 25 yards looked more like a sieve than a shot group.

This is my CZ455 in .17HMR, after bedding the action, getting a new .17 HMR bull, fluted barrel and a 3-9X Leupold. Yeah, I'm spoiled, but the rifle is really happy to shoot well. It's very comfortable to shoot nice tight groups, but prefers to knock-off varmints than shoot groups, which it does very well. I bought the rifle "barely-used" at Kittery Trading Post as a .22 WMR and it's been excellent, both from the bench and in the field.

    used CZ .22, be patient...

my favorite bolt .22 is a hand me down Remington 512... i learned to shoot on it, it's still accurate, more sentimental than CZ accurate though.

CZ, used if new is too expensive. I like my 457 Varmint and sometimes question why I sold the 455 Standard. Oh yes, I remember, it was to fund the 457 :)

Lucky is the soul that can buy all the guns he wants. I have a good friend like that. Some days I hate him, LOL.
