New ACR

Picked up a new ACR. I only got to shoot it briefly at 50 yds. with my Eotech.
I'm sure the gun shoots better than me. I was getting 1 to 1.5" groups. Recoil seemed less than my LMT M4. I'm guessing the piston system and weight probably have something to do with it. Speaking of weight, it is a little bit front heavy compared to the FN SCAR. I like the non reciprocating charging handle. And I am amazed at the ability/potential to change barrels so quickly and easily.

My SCAR was light until I threw an aimpoint comp M4 and surefire light on it. Still lighter than my BCM though. Congrats on the ACR man! I really like that system. I like the integrated battery assist it provides.

Interesting, I didn't think about the wait going up with optics. I had my eyes on a FDE SCAR that was used but unfired. But it sold a few days before I had the funds. I definitely want a SCAR17!

Any of you guys have any experience with the Leupold Mark AR Scope in 1.5-4X ? Just discovered it on their site. I have the 3-9X on my LMT. Would 4x be enough for 200 yds?

Scopes

If your young then your eyeballs will let you hit man sized tgts out to 500 yards, but the scopes are fun and do the job their supposed to do. Look at it this way...an ACOG is good out to 400 if needed, your 4X should get you there with no problem. Now if your talking surgical shooting at any distance, well it's a whole different game then.

I hope to pick up an ACR soon for my next range queen...I'm retired and not chassing bad guys anymore.

Is that the stock handguard? Looks like my Magpul MOE. Either way nice rifle. I hope to get one in a couple of years to go along with my AR15

Yes, it's the stock handguard on the ACR Basic, (Magpul MOE same thing if I'm not mistaken)

It's not bad. I have a friend that has an ACR and hated it. Granted, it's not a target gun like my RRA NM, no comparison. But for a combat gun it's nice, maybe just a tad heavy. I think my LMT has a little bit nicer trigger.

I was only able to shoot from 50 yds and got 1.5" groups with an Eotech.I'm sure the gun shoots better than me.

How is the trigger on the ACR?

The one I tried had a trigger pull comparable to a standard AR15.

In other words, it would have been the first thing I'd get modified on the gun.

I'm Fickle

I like the ACR but I just fell in love with the Colt LE901 7.62. It's supposed to be on the market this fall. If it's under $2000 I will get one, if not it will be an ACR.
