Thought I'd give a heads-up: we just posted data from a new round of testing to the Ballistics By The Inch site for a bunch of new .380 ammunition and new 'real world' guns, as well as our first tests of 9mm Makarov and 9mm Ultra.

There's a post about it on the BBTI blog as well. As I noted there:
I had always considered .380 a marginal cartridge for self defense, though it is very popular due to the large number of very small pistols which shoot the cartridge. And it still wouldn’t be my first choice for a self-defense gun. But were I going to carry it, I’d feel very comfortable loading it with either of the Buffalo Bore ammos which we tested – they were quite impressive.

Cheers to all . . .

Excellent info. I carry a P-64 in 9mm Makarov. A pity they didn't test the Buffalo Bore 9x18 +P ammo. Yes, it exists. With normal loadings, though, 9x18 typically shoots a heavier bullet at a higher velocity than .380.

I'd love to see 7.62x25 / 7.62 Tokarev just for laughs. Nothing like seeing an 85-grain bullet going like a bat out of hell.
