Never understood the hype behind these rifles...til I shot one last weekend. I got a chance to shoot my friend's Bushmaster AR-15 and it was a ton of fun. I knew then I had to get one. I spent the week searching forums, other sites, etc, looking for info and a good deal. I went to my local Academy to check out the options they had (Bushmaster, Colt, and S&W were the choices). While there I met two guys looking at a S&W Sigma. Chatted them up and waited til after they decided they were not interested in anything in particular at that store to let them know I was looking to sell my S&W SD9 to finance the AR-15 purchase. Let them check it out in the parking lot, and one asked if I was selling anything else. Sadly, I let my XD45 go as well, but I had plenty of $$$ to purchase what I was lusting after, as well as some ammo and pay for the scope I bought last week; both of them got great deals and I got my new AR-15. Nothing fancy, no "mods" planned save for a new grip, just lots and lots of rounds and practice.

Bushmaster was the right price and a great fit for me, IMHO.

Scope is a Barska 4-16x50mm illuminated Mildot, not too shabby for $100 shipped, and looks pretty darn good on the gun.

I guess now I'm in the black rifle club, and I will do my best to not go "mall ninja"...

Nothing wrong with doing the mall ninja routine on your gun... it's when you go mall ninja on yourself that gets annoying. Besides, you'll get into some AR stuff and then turn around and sell it later until you've reached the best setup for your rifle that suits YOU.

Enjoy the ride, man. I'm still on my first AR too :)

Congrats AU, that's a fine (Bushmaster) rifle and the scope actually DOES look cool -- goes with it -- very artisitic in a way.

I had just written in another thread that people often forget how much FUN these guns are to shoot, plain and simple.

Enjoy, be safe, and welcome to the club.

Just for s&g, this is the .22 that the scope was originally for. Sure felt strange putting a $100 scope on a $120 gun...
