New CZ 457 build is underway

Interesting, the IBS Rimfire is slightly different.

The USBR target uses best edge scoring. To get an X, your shot has to take out or completely cover the X ring. You need a plug to score it properly. That target is very humbing.

Having a good bullseye you can reference and set up your crosshairs to the same way each time is a key to small groups. Aim small, miss small as they say.

After you learn to shoot small groups, learning to steer those shots so they center on a bullseye is whole nuther thing.

I keep forgetting that the barrels are swappable on the 457's. I'm not 100% satisfied with my American .22LR but a threaded barrel might change that.

I don't go to RFC any more because of some idiotic, heavy-handed moderating but you guys are gonna keep on until I order a Super Grade barreled action from KIDD. I haven't even finished the last build I started but I do have a new Faxon barrel to test.

You’ll get no help with your restraint from me, CraigC. A Kidd super grade barreled action would be delicious and you know it. Nothing to do but whip it into your favorite chassis, slap a fine optic on top and shoot bug holes with it. Apply as needed to the affected area.

I’m not quite ready for a RimX or a Vudoo, but Bison Tactical does a nice job with the Bergara B14r. They have Modacam smooth the action out and install a Krieger, Bartlein or Benchmark barrel and then retail the barreled action. Their groups are mighty impressive. I’m on their email waitlist :)

Very nice looking set-up. As for the mags, I have found that I prefer a single shot adapter to mags. i get in a rhythm with the SSA and don’t have to stop to reload mags.👍

When trying to solve the old Anschutz 1416 problem of hitting low, I ordered a 419 rail to maybe fix it.
Nope, receiver contour and base design not compatable.
But I had (still have) a .22 mag 457 and figured I could use it there down the road, or if I got a .22 lr sporter.
Tried a BKL mount w integral rings. Worked but kinda cheesy.
Still have that.
Guess I need a 457 scout for the grandkid...........since I already have a scope mount for it ;)

The 1416 ended up w a Dip rail. fixed the problem but wasn't how I wanted to go. Looks a bit funky.

This and fixing a couple of my dads old rigs...........has me to the point I wont buy used guns.
Well, not unless I need an action to have something built from.

wow, nice 457! mine is a Pro Varmint with the 16.5in Bull threaded barrel. I put a EGW pic rail and a Vortex Viper 6-24x50 scope on it in EGW rings.Works great for my purposes, which is just shooting paper at 25 to 70yds... With my SilencerCo Sparrow it is silly quiet... I only have the one 5rd mag as extras are 50 bucks and NEVER in stock lol... ETA, I left my trigger stock, I don't want to mess with it and yeah it does have a bit of over travel but not bad... Shoots CCI SV very well!

Sounds like a sweet rifle, OKIE! I see 10 rd magazines available online from a couple of different vendors for $30 but they sell out fast. I have two but it’s not enough!

I think I’ll settle on Eley Club for a while for this gun. I’ve fired a couple hundred rounds of it and no groups gave strayed over an inch at 100 yards.
