New Derringers?

Just a thought... Maybe I'm wrong, but wouldn't the derringers in fatter calibers actually be lighter weight-wise, because there would be less barrel steel relative to the caliber? Even given somewhat more brass and lead, is it possible that a BA in .45ACP would be lighter than its counterpart in .380? I'm processing all this info for my next barrel purchase, so I'm fine with being proven wrong. 🙂
You are right. We weighed an unloaded .45acp vs a unloaded 9mm at the LGS I worked at, the 9mm weighed more by .10 ounces. I'm sure the difference between the 45 and a 22 would be more.

figured wadcutters are better than .380.
We've arrived at the same conclusion for carry in snubs.
There's only so much to be gained, hot rodding loads for small pistols. A couple rounds, as a GTFOM for bears, in boonie carry is one thing, but full charge wadcutters make sense in a snub, and probably would work in a derringer. But it's still a pretty big derringer.

The Stinger is quite a bit slimmer than a J frame, but at the cost of having to cock the hammer each shot and only having two of them.

The standard Bond derringers, the big bores like .44 and .45, a wadcutter in those will hit hard and I would think be more concealable than a Judge or Charter Bulldog.

Full disclosure; I've never handled a Stinger; that is their smaller model? In any case, it would seem that ultra compacts (BG2.0, etc) are more the competition than J-guns.
Concur the Big Bores, with their punkin' roller loads, would be heavier hitters. Choices. :p
