So I just checked the 2010-2011 Hunting regulations and see that they now require a deer permit along with the regular license.

When did this happen??? Used to be we could just purchase a hunting license and hunt, and now I have to buy extra permits as well???
I hope I'm mistaken.

oh yeah, it appears that muzzle-loading comes AFTER general gun season.
What the Hell???
I leave the state for one year and everything gets screwed up.

It happened this year. It's a $5.00 stamp. It's called revenue generation.

You must be in Zone D. That's the only zone where Muzzleloader comes after General Gun. Zone's A, B and C have General Gun after Muzzleloader.

yeah. I just got back from Arizona after a year and was surprised to see the change.
It was a reason why I didn't hunt in Arizona, they wanted extra money for every animal you kill, just about.

I can live with a 5$ stamp, and I think it may help reduce the morons on public land just a little bit(I hope), but putting muzzle-loading AFTER general gun seems a bit dumb IMO.

I'll be going back out to Appilachicola WMA this year. I was hoping they'd open some bear hunting opportunities, as I've seen several out there, including a few large ones, but alas, they are still off limits.

There are talks of opening bear. They're having a lot of problems down in the Naples area with them as well as up in the Panhandle.

There is pretty much a $5 stamp for deer and turkey.

I just found another insanely stupid law that I've been unknowingly breaking. You can hunt with your bow through crossbow, muzzleloader and general gun seasons. What I didn't know is that you have to have a crossbow and muzzleloader stamp to hunt those seasons with a bow...So now I have to buy a muzzleloader stamp even though I don't use a muzzleloader.

Why they reversed General Gun and Muzzleloader in Zone D is beyond me. But like I've said many, many times, FWC's science is always questionable and should be held under higher scrutiny.

The good news is that next year they are merging crossbow and archery into the same season. You won't need seperate permits or letters of disability from your Dr. to use a crossbow. Anyone will be able to use a crossbow next year and I'm sure that will have a $5 permit also.

No, the extra money isn't keeping the morons off of the WMAs, that's a $27 stamp to hunt the WMA's don't forget...And I really don't know where the extra revenue is going because there are talks of closing the firearms range at Cecil Webb WMA down here in Charlotte County because they can't afford to run it any longer.

Why are they talking about closing it considering you are supposed to pay to shoot there and it's always packed. And never mind they just paved it also.

Once, just ONCE, I'd like to see the FWC have a REAL customer satisfaction survey conducted.

I submit that agency is, following children and families, the poorest ran, most inept division of Florida State government. The commission is totally staff driven and that is singularly why you will continue to experience ever increasing fees and a byzantine regulatory structure.

Doubt those statements, well then back up to the recent complete avoidance of the bear regulatory issue simply because a large contingent was calling for the re-opening of a hunting season as a means of management control. The bottom line and simple truth is that the agency is more than a little fearful of any controversy and is scared to death of PETA and the other tree huggers.............Hell, they just outlawed fox and coyote chasing in penned areas because of those organizations.............whatever that regulatory measure may have of value, the truth remains that the agency least of all represents the folks that foot its real bills.........hunters and fishermen.

Lemme back up to my initial sentence and say that what I'd really like to see is a REAL management audit conducted on the entire division.

That's hilarious, dogrunner. I know someone who works at the department of children and families in Tallahasse and he's ALWAYS in a rage about they are running it.

And screw PETA and the tree huggers. I'm all for protection of endangered species and the environment, but there is such a thing as common sense and reasonable limits that many of those nut-bars have failed to practice.

Hippies should be a game species.

I have no problem with a $5 stamp for big game. That's plenty fair, and makes it very easy to get. And it reduces the types that just go out there and shoot practically anything that moves.

Don't know about other states, but Florida does have the military gold liscence for $20. It includes fresh and salt water fishing, hunting and management area permit. If I remember right it's also a deer tag. Obviously going to double check before I head out for a deer. Pretty sweet deal if there's anybody else here that's military and living in Fl.

Hey Warden, for the record I have utterly no objection to listing that stinky species as shootable........now I'm not so sure about the status as "game", unless you meant "gamey"..............anyway, it's kinda like 'dillos..........you shoot 'em, you want 'em, YOU clean 'em!

Because it's costing them more to run it than they make. The good news is that a local gun shop has submitted a bid to operate it.

That's hilarious, dogrunner.

Actually, no it's not because everything he said is spot on true.

That may help get the Doe population down on alot of Publc land, One can only HOPE  As the buck to doe ratio might get better JMO ; )
