President Harris succeeds with all her gun control and weakling Americans go along with it. You are moving to Romania. There are no “but ifs” to the story. You are allowed only two handguns and they must be of the same caliber. The guns may be carried openly or concealed depending upon your permit. Ammo is limited to non-expanding bullets for defensive use (sport shooters can get JHP for some reason). Ammo is taxed heavily and you are limited in how much you can own. You may reload or manufacture ammunition up to the amount on the permit. The amount is unknown but assume at least 500. You can purchase ammo from a gun range and shoot it there.

Assuming you can buy the guns, which two would you get?

My choices, depending upon caliber, are:

    Group 1: 45 ACP
    Glock 21
    Glock 30

    Group 2: 9mm
    Glock 19.5
    Glock 26.5

    Group 3: 357 Magnum
    Korth Mongoose 3”
    Korth NSX with 4”

I would choose Glock because I know how to work on them. As much as I would want some high end 1911’s, I just cannot do the work of fixing problems. I can probably do an extractor, but where do I find a gunsmith for a full checkup?

357 Magnum would be a good choice, but one incurs the difficulty in carry and spare ammo is always hard to deal with. But, much can be do e with 357 Magnum!

I guess if I chose the 1911, I could attend a build class and learn everything. So, at that point, my 1911 in 45 are:

    1) Nighthawk Firehawk Recon (with red dot optic system)
    2) Nighthawk Predator III (CCO, add red dot optic system)

    Oh, let's play.

9mm, because all the internet reasons.

Tanfoglio Witness Gold Team (IPSC in Romania? I hope so.)
    CZ-75 compact (for carry)

Of course 9mm major will get me to major power factor, and I can handload what I need for that.
Oh, no expanding bullets. Can I have hard cast lead? Bummer. I think I want something else for carry then... AAAHH!!! Why did I move to Romania?

You can easily learn all you need to know for a 1911 if you apply yourself. After all, you don't need to learn stuff pertaining to other designs if you are sticking with that one!

My first pick would be a Taurus Millennium G2, And second pick would be a Taurus G3 they would be in 9mm. The reason I picked these pistols is when they take away your 2 pistols you will not have a fortune invested in them. Remember no 2nd Amendment there.

    9mm for me.
    Smith & Wesson M&P M2.0 for a carry weapon
Springfield XD-M Elite 5.25 for the high capacity magazines.

It would be hard not to choose a 1911 pairing, maybe Springer Range Officer Target and Compact (to keep it in my price range).

    But I would probably go with 357: S&W 686+ 5 or 6 inch and a Model 60.

I'm going out on a limb just a bit here, because I don't know the logistics/legality of transporting handguns between two different European countries...BUT...you're not that far away from factory support for a Glock, should you need it, and you said you know how to work on Glocks.

Of your choices I'd go with the .45s.

Back to the drawing board for ME...I'd have a hard time picking between CZ and Glock. I like them both, but I find that I don't have to force my hand into a high hold on the Glock. With a CZ I have to force it there.

So I will do what any sensible guy would do. #1: Glock 17 or 19. #2: CZ 75B or SP-01, whichever was available.

You have to choose guns of the same caliber, not manuafacturer. So, you could have your CZ and Glock.

I updated the reasoning. President Harris successfully implemented her full gun control agenda. Nothing else matters to the story other than you want to go to Romania.

There are no “but ifs” to the story, as in “but if they confiscate them”.

If you can have only two, one should never choose Taurus. Remember, you can carry!

Not moving to Romania; just moved recently and have enough disruption to deal with as it is!

Two handguns only, same cartridge. Got it!

One is easy...Browning Hi-Power. My go-to gun for the last 35 years.

It's the second gun in 9mm. that has me ruminating. I have a CZ P01, CZ P07, Colt Commander, SIG P229, Ruger SR9c, Kahr CM9, and my latest, an HK VP9. Have to get back to you'all on this one as I'm going to have to think about this one for awhile...

That is a specific scenario. Is it accurate?
Does Romania allow concealed carry, limited to FMJ and just two guns?
ETA: post above me indicates it may be.
Missing is whether there is a worthless 10 round mag limit.

No mag limit: Glock 21SF and Ed Brown Special Forces
Mag limit: Ed Brown Special Forces and Dan Wesson Valor
