I can help you with the holster.... The 7X Leather chest holster is perfect for your applications. You said you were afraid to buy off the net. The 7X will come with a full inspection garantee. I am sure you will like the system better than any other holster that you can buy, if not...just send it back.

I have carried one for many miles, with a backpack, on a horse, and ATV. It will carry in tee-shirt weather and easily adjusts to fit over you biggest parka for winter carry.

Here is a pic of my personal rig carring a 4" 500S&W.

I have never seen a better way to carry a 6" before. I think this is probably your best bet!

I will be ordering one of these just as soon as I can convince my wife to let me. That looks fantastic. I carry my GP100 blued 6" with me every time I go into the woods in a cheapo nylon belt holster and it definitely wears on me. With a pistol that big, distributing the load is crucial...

I've taken a bobcat with mine at about 30 yards, that's my only good hunting shot.

I'll get flamed, but with my 6 in blued GP-100, I use a cheap Uncle Mikes belt holster. It works well and I use the gun for deer hunting with very good results.

The 158's are great, but I load a 180gr RNFP for deer with 2400.

Does Lawrence still make holsters? A simple leather snap strap rig is good for the field. You can water form it to make it all fancy if you want.

I have a GP that I bought in the mid 90's. My gunsmith suggested 180gr bullets saying the rifling was perfect for the heavier bullets. To make a long story short I loaded 180gr XTP 's and have taken several whitetails out to 45 yds. AA #9, H110, 2400 are good powders to work with. I had to go to a reddot because of old eyes, but the gun and load work.
