Just bought a NIB one at GunBroker (stainless, adjustable sights, 4") for $440. After shipping and transfer fees, it should come out around $482 ($10 shipping, $20-25 transfer fees, plus priority mail and postal money order to ship payment). Compare that to a new one here at $490 plus 9 percent sales tax.

I've wanted one for 20 years plus, since I read Skeeter's review of one in Shooting Times. Finally.

I've shot 'em, handled 'em, drooled over 'em, and now I'll own one. Whoo hoo!

I have two .357s already, a 3" Sp101 and a 6" Taurus. This may be kind of redundant, but hey, you only live once, right.

I'm tired of hearing my brother and friends brag about theirs, anyway.

I'd like to have a 4 inch, but that is a prohibited length here in Canada:(

Love my 6 inch, though. Have fun!

My tuned GP100 is my favorite. Having done the Law Enforcement Armorers School. I was quite impressed in the quality and mechanics of the design of the GP Series. I would get another one in a minute. TOGGLELOCK

Not big on the short bbled ones but a blued 6" one has been on my "list" for quite a while. Just keeps getting bumped.

Canadian, if you pay 30% more in taxes then you have about 30% less of freedom. Higher taxes means that your politicians have milked you drier, leaving you passive, and now they have the financial means to bully you. Bad combination.

By the way, can you use it on burglars or people attacking you on your property?

Total price with all shipping and fees: $477.

I wanted a KGP-141 4" GP100 over six years ago - before my first S&W. I had a .454 SRH I loved - great lockwork - the same as the GP100. Sadly, every one I looked at, including three at one store, was loaded with booboo's - scratches, dings, tool marks etc - even on the crown. I discovered S&W - but still looked for a 'good' GP100.

Several weeks back, after selling/trading four Rugers, I found myself eyeballing what looked like a large SP101 in a local shop's case. It was a new GP100 - but no wood panels in thr grip - just rubber. Hmmm, got out the reading glasses - and I couldn't find a mark on it. The dealer let me try the trigger - WOW! I checked, it really was a GP100. I stopped at another dealer - he had one, too - same deal! Ruger must have rehired their QC inspector! And - that trigger - I am impressed, even if they were $349 - and are now $489... Congratulations, you have a 'keeper' to be proud of!

Apologies to our Canadian friends. Will a 5" work? Didn't Davidson's have a 'special' run of SRH-grey 5" GP100s a few years back? I did get a S&W 5" half-lug 686+ a few years back - great bargain, as a 'Stocking Dealer Exclusive', it was cheaper than a regular 4" 686! Will 5" suffice up North - or must it be 6"?

Can you use it? Yes. Is it legal? No.

We have to store our toys in safes or strong cabinets or securely locked room at all times. Restricted guns need to have trigger locks employed during storage as well.

There are three classifications of firearms: non-restricted for most non fully automatic rifles with 18.5 inch or longer barrels; restricted for handguns with minimum barrel length of 106 mm; prohibited for handguns less than 106 mm and full auto rifles including those on a "prohibited list". As well there is a 10 round limit for handgun magazines and a 5 round limit for rifles except for the M1 Garand and the 10 rd Ruger rotary .22 lr and the tube magazine lever rifles i.e. Marlin 1894C.
There are a few other exceptions to these rules regards barrel length and capacity.

Ammo has to be stored in a separate locked container.

Given the above rules, use of firearms for home defense is possible but not likely, due to the amount of time it would take to go to safe, open it, unlock the pistol, unlock the ammo, etc.

I heard about a guy who kept a loaded shotgun at his bedside. One time police were called to his house (don't know what for, but unrelated to his guns) and in the course of securing his house, saw the piece. Poor SOB had all his toys confiscated for improper storage of firearms.

5" is good. 1911 Commander is restricted, its 4 1/4" barrel barely makes minimum length. I've not comes across those models you mentioned, but would have instantly sprung for them.

For calibration purposes, here is the '04-'05 S&W 'Stocking Dealer Exclusive', an SKU #164284, which came stock with the HiViz front, V-notch rear, and Ahrends grips shown:
