I have an older blue 45LC/45ACP Ruger New Model Blackhawk with wood XRN-3RED grips. This is a dally carry piece so the grips need to be comfortable and sturdy. I see Altamont has Bonded Ivory and Imitation Stag grips. Does anyone have actual experience on how comfortable and how well they hold up to the stress of daily carry. I carry while working on the farm and when working my dogs in the field so the grips will not be just for show, but I would like to improve the looks of this great revolver.

I put these Altamont "bonded ivory" panels on my NV a few months ago. Haven't carried the gun at all, but it has been handled a lot. They are very comfortable and don't feel like cheap plastic, so I think they were a decent buy.

I have a pair of Bar S Tru Ivory grips on my Vaquero and like Armybrat, while I don't take it out in the field all that much, it has held up very well over the years with moderate use. The grips themselves are very well constructed and quite durable. If you're in the market for stag grips, I would check out Sack Peterson's website.
