New gun itch

Alas I have that itch constantly! I try mightily to not scratch it but every once in awhile it becomes unbearable and I just have to scratch it! Good luck in your suffering  Just remember there are a lot worse maladies one can suffer from

Got the itch, got the money rat-holed, know what I'm going after and where.

Don't need enablers but if you feel like taking a shot at me go right ahead. Make it entertaining so everybody can laugh

Develop a taste for high condition, vintage guns in their original boxes.
That solves a lot of your problems right there. No need berate yourself for owning them and not shooting them, and when you end up selling them, you'll probably have made money instead of losing it.
I have the same problem. Money for guns, not enough time to shoot them.
So I started looking for high condition safe queens while the market is low. Maybe I'll shoot them someday, maybe not, but as long as I'm finding and buying undervalued, high condition vintage guns with my spare cash, I don't see it going wrong.

Most of my 25ish rifles/ handguns/ shotguns sit in safes and look pretty. All have been shot or will get shot - shot them when I can but again, they kinda just stand there in the safes and look good. Sometimes I just look at them, sometimes I hold them, sometimes I wipe them down, sometimes I shoot them, sometimes I clean them - sometimes I just sit and talk to them. There is no mandate or rules or requirements to use them - sometimes I just stare at them and feel lucky.

Why do we have these curses?
You ask a very good question!

The answer may be we're trying to fill a deep dark empty Walter Mitty void of inadequacies by buying things that we think we'll use to feel more worthwhile even though we just hate ourselves more because we know we won't when we should be volunteering with the 4H to help more kids learn to shoot and be a real hero in our community.

Or we just like guns.

Buy it, don't overthink it.

It's better to have it and not need it than the other way around.

This may seem like enabling, because it is. I'd appreciate it if you returned the favor if I'm on the fence about buying a gun in the future.

Post pics of your new gun!

Edited to add - just noted.the date on the OP, hope you didn't miss out on the deal.

Probably some of both. I have the itch for a .223 bolt gun with threaded barrel, cheek riser, not light weight.

I am saving my pennies, know what I want..........being good, for now.........but it will happen.....trust me... I'm weak.

Oh, and then a P-322 to shoot suppressed, when the approval goes through. My buddy did it individual only and digital,
got approved in three days.......Sigh. :)

I said the same thing a year ago. Now, 2 AR's and a 38 snubbie later.......

Sounds vaguely familiar....

About once a year i get an itch to buy a new gun or new caliber and 98% of the time i get bored with it and it sits in the closet. I have an AR thats 9months old with a manufacturer recall that needs sent back and it’s never been fired. I got to shooting 22 matches and stumbled upon a 10/22 LVT and been trying to talk myself out of it cause my bolt actions do just fine.

Been wanting a 357 4” for a long time and found a Taurus on sale for $400 but again it will sit there like my other 3 handguns.

Been debating on a 22 semi auto handgun for a cheap training gun and fun plinker.

I’ve done a bunch of research and end up talking myself out of it. Why do we have these curses?
I'm like an AA sponsor who shows up to an AA meeting with a BJ's Wholesale Club bulk pack of beer, sits down, cracks one open, and then gets stared at, but I then respond with "what? I brought enough for everyone.'

If you're looking for a quality revolver that won't break the bank, look at the Rossi RM64.

They're a true four-inch, six-shot .357 Magnum revolver with no stupid lawyer-lock and the firing pin is properly mounted on the hammer. Plus, they're in the $400 range.

A man's got to know his limitations........

Does one ever really need to buy yet another firearm? The long and short answer is a resounding yes..
But I really can't afford it right now......that's what Ramen noodles and PBnJ were invented for, helping financially with firearms purchases. Hot dogs and chilli if you're just getting a lower cost plinker....but never, repeat never, be dimewise and dollar stupid. If you know you're never ever gonna see it for that price again, don't hesitate, even if it mean pulling the plastic and starving the rest of the month to pay it off.....
The itch is always there for me, I just know what guns scratch it. So ive planned accordingly. And every once in awhile, I come across a fantastic deal on those scratchers, and can still afford frozen pizza

I can't afford it, but the seller gave me a good shipped price. It's 12 ga 65mm chambered and 30-30. The extra photos he sent verify the 30-30 chamber, a hot item in German combo guns of this vintage. The German designation is 7.5X52. I haven't pulled the trigger on it yet.

You mentioned a couple of times the guns you have just sit there, and there lies the problem.

You need to get out and shoot more. Once you do, you’ll realize you actually do have a need for another gun.

The key is to use them.

Number of itches (A) times the number of firearms purchased from the itch (B) minus number of firearms sold (0), equals number in the collection (C). Use the below formula to use math to figure out how many firearms you may own. This is what I came up with:

C=M(A,B)⊖n
  • M(A,B)\mathscr{M}(A, B)M(A,B) denotes the multiplication operation on A and B.
  • ⊖\ominus⊖ represents subtraction.
  • n\mathfrak{n}n symbolizes the value zero.
I wrote the formula for @Mark_Mark, others have permission to use this freely.

And yes I get an itch to purchase a firearm from time to time. Usually allow it to get the better of me. Safe full of itches.

Uuuughhh, when did math have letters?

Cute, an in an American caliber, too.
I once saw a tiny little OU combination gun in 28 ga x .25-35 and have heard of European versions of .22 Savage High Power.

Little long on the free time there, dh?

Bored to death today. The formula really is (A x B) - 0 = C

I have the itch for a Walther PPQ in 45 ACP and a Sig 226. Using anti-itch cream on my brain.
