My Smith model 66 is currently in the S&W hospital having a worn out sear being checked out and fixed, which is kind of depressing. But life goes on and 'tis the season to buy a new gun!

So, I added a new member to my family of firearms.

Number seven, welcome home: a Marlin Model 80! (JCH Model 103.228)

I was going to buy a cap and ball revolver, but I decided to get a can gun instead. (I can shoot it because I can afford to shoot it. Haha)

One quick question amidst my flagrant airing of eye candy: is it going to harm the gun to open the bolt, depress the trigger, and slowly close the bolt to take pressure off of the firing pin spring? I'd never snap the trigger on a .22, so I've been doing this to decock the gun.

Harmony and balance in life, and happy holidays to everyone! :)

Nope, shouldn't harm it a bit. That is how it should be done.

    nice looking rifle, too.

I have one of those. It was given to me on my 16th birthday, fifty years ago. For along time it wore the same scope as yours. It doesn't get used much these days. Have fun with yours.
