Hey everyone, let me start off by saying I am new to THR and am glad to be here! I have been snooping around for a couple of days and have found lots of great information. That said, I hope I can get some opinions on a rifle decision that I am currently mulling over.

I am about to purchase my first AR. I was pretty well set on picking up a Stag Model 2-

from a local dealer. For the money it seems like a great buy. Yesterday though, I became aware of a 2007 CMMG Govt Profile middy-

that I can purchase for $700. This includes 2 magazines, a factory installed hammer/trigger pin upgrade, and a soft case. The owner has fired 100 rounds through it and it is in beautiful condition.

Other than the new vs. used or carbine vs. mid length argument, would any of you recommend one over the other? FWIW, I can pick up the Stag for $760 + tax.

    Thanks,
    Ron

All I can speak for is the stag. I currently own one and am totally pleased with it. Its very accurate (I hand load) and so far, very reliable. Hopefully others will chime in and give you some more info.

By the way the stag comes with a hard case.

Heard good things about the Stag, can't speak for the other.

    What about the S&W Ar...700 with a 100 rebate I hear!
