I'm joining the discussion here on THR

Live in the Pineywoods of East Texas on my 50 acre plot surrounded by large wooded tracts. Have children and a sweet wife transplanted from The Peoples Republic of Kanada. Have always been around firearms but just in the last 8-9 years got into "shooting". Thinking especially on the safety of my clan here and being as good as I can be. I hope to learn much and contribute some.

New Member

Hello all, I am from the Houston area. I am into hunting, reloading, fishing and generally being outdoors. I kept coming across this website when I would look up information concerning firearms, products, etc and decided that I would join and hopefully be able to contribute as well as broaden my knowledge base.

Introducing myself.

I have been a member since 2006 and I have never made a real post here.

I have been and avid shooter/hunter gun nut all my life. My first firearm was a Charter Arms Bulldog in .44sp. It was given to me by my uncle when I was 6 the second was a Ruger 10/22 when I was 9. And when I was 11 he traded the Bulldog for a Ruger Super Blackhawk 7.5" for me.

I have been shooting with my uncle for 32 years. We do a lot of shooting, every Saturday we hit the range. When we go to the lease we shoot. We never miss a range day unless extreme bad weather or the range is closed.

Recently we have been getting into long range hand gunning. We have a few scoped handguns. My favorite is the Magnum Research BFR in 45/70 and BFR 30/30. The next would be my SBH Hunter .44 mag and .41 Mag.

Most recently we took a Smith & Wesson model 15-6 4" down to the lease. There is a dry creek that runs down the middle of the property 600 yards across and a 50' flat cliff face on the other side. We used the range finder and marked two large head sized rocks. One was 101 yards the other 75 yards.

I was spotting for my uncle and he hit the 101 yard rock 4 out of 6 shots single action. I did not want to trump his skills so I took the 75 yard rock and made 4 our 6 double action. The best part, you heard the report then watched the impact a few moments after. The sound on the rock was a slight "clink" and a nice lead smear.

That is my intro. Hope you enjoyed the story.

New and eager!!

Just signed up on the site.
I'm a past reloader from about 25 years ago. I was more into long guns back then. Because of my health issues, I'm legally blind and kidney failure< I am now going to concentrate on handguns for sd/hd. I had about a 25 year break in activity because of work and getting married ( wife was a little challenging in the freaking out department). I'm am now separated and living alone. Taking a concealed class soon and went to my first gun show in several decades.
God it feels good to be back in the saddle.
Look forward to reading and learning this all again.

Roger

i'm a new member and i don't give a <removed> about smiley faces in messages, that being said i've been a shooter for some time now, since i was 6...I've shot most "normal" non mag hunting rounds, and pretty much all types of "plinkers" out there, and know enough about the stuff the hold an 8 hour debate with "gunny" down at the "library." I live in central texas and it has come to my attention lately that there is a serious need for a public gun range that is accessable to the public with out all the b.s. that "good 'ole boys", "bubbah's", and "elmer fudds" bring with them. I know i guy with the land about 800acre-square, i can rent a cat to build up the earth.....Basically IF I BUILD THIS, WILL Y'ALL COME SHOOT?

full auto....one should have gotten the point across, but what-ever!

I'm a 57 year old guy who dabbled in reloading since I turned 21 and headed off to the gun shop, rather than the bar, and bought a Ruger Security Six (still have it). Finally looks like I found an honest site to get info. Big into black powder too. NRA LIFE Member (Pittsburgh was great!).

I'm a newbie. I do varmit hunting, reloading, target /bench shooting.
Deer hunt with a 45-70 Gov't. Primarily use .223 for everything else.
Very pro gun ownership and have my concealed permit.

Greetings everyone,

I go by Kizmit. I'm the web girl behind the barrel maker, Black Hole Weaponry. We hail from a little map dot in the deserts of Eastern Washington state and specialize in custom barrel making. I've seen some questions in the past about our barrels and hope to be able to answer first hand any/all inquiries anyone may have about our products as well as discuss all things AR related! Carl, our owner/operator and former police officer has been a gunsmith for over 30 years and wishes to share his passion for safe and responsible gun ownership with the rest of the community.

Hope to see you all around the forum!

Never did my formal intro!!!!

Anyways see the sig for my weapons. Other weapons I have sold include a finiky ptr91 one of JLD enterprises early runs that would not eat anything but match grade ammo and my springfeild xd 45 service which i miss.

I am an LEO in CO and I am also a tech nerd and a shade tree mechanic/gunsmith. I love guns, cars, computers and other such expensive hobbies.

I am currently in the process of going to school to get into the tech sector so i can make more money to buy more toys :)

I am an early retired (car accident) machinist, metal finisher and production flow technician. I worked for a major gun manufacturer, but I have recently created my own custom firearms company. I do a little bit of everything, but I specifically want to concentrate on "operator ready" packages. I also offer various levels of firearms training. The name of my company is Bison Creek Firearms. The web page will soon be up under same name. My main goal is to facilitate shooters, new or old any way I can.

Hi, I'm new to the site. What attracted me was the really intellegent conversations going (Mr. McKraken - sp, sorry - in the shotgun section - good job!). There may not be a typical member but my guess is I'm more atypical than most here. Live in the mountains of Colorado, professional ski patroller, anti NRA but will defend the right and stand alongside anyone on this site who is a member. Hobbies are refinishing old bicycles and making skateboards (and I don't even skateboard). I really enjoy quail hunting. I quit big game hunting several years ago. I don't have many firearms (mainly hunting guns) but a renewed interest in the sport will soon change that. Thanks for having me.

First timer here. Browsed the site a little and like what I see so far. XD nut, so anything related I'm up for. Looking to find out more about AR-15's. Thinking of purchasing one, but so many to choose from.[/I]

Hi All

Howdy folks, my name is Colin and I'm from little old New Zealand. I've just bought a Ruger mini 14 which I plan to do a bit of hunting with. I also have a Swedish 6.5 X 55mm Mauser, Winchester 30/30 and Mossberg 590 shotgun. Great looking forum and I plan to learn as much as I can from you knowledgeable people.

Hello from OK!

Just a teacher learning to shoot with automatics instead of wheel guns. I did recently learn that you cannot load a 9mm with 380 ammo and get good results!

Howdy everyone. I meant to post here sooner.
Newby to the forum, but not to firearms. I've been reloading for about a year now.
I Retired from the USAF in 06 as an E-7. Aircraft Armament Systems Spec (weapons guy.) I currently work at Hill AFB as a USAF civilian. Started as an Aircraft Electrician, but moved on to an office job.
In my younger years, I shot Silhouette. SB rifle & Hunter's pistol. I recently started shooting pins at the local range.
Most of my emphasis is handguns at this point. Both Semi-auto & revolvers.
I do enjoy my rim fires as well. Both rifle & pistols.

21 year AF vet (active and Guard), currently a federal criminal investigator and firearms instructor. Used to work for Navy Arms Company back in the day. Favorite guns are 1911s (have series 1 Kimber custom classic royal and SA SS Loaded) and my XD 40.

New member in Illinois from Texas

Hey, what's up? I'm a new guy. I've seen THR before but finally decided to join now. I've been an avid shooter since my dad handed me his Winchester Model 12 loaded with 00 Buck when I was 9. Since then it's been a blur of handgun and rifle purchases from 17 HMR to 50 BMG. I got into reloading about 10 years ago and haven't stopped since. I'm a member of the NRA, the Texas State and Illinois State Rifle Association, and the Fifty Caliber Shooter's Association. I tend to join whatever Pro Gun association in every state I move to for work. It's good to be here with like-minded individuals.

Getting to be an old coot. Raised in Canada, US military vet, 1968 t0 1972. Collect handguns, have many. Two prizes are a 1861 Navy colt, and a 1901 SAA. Unfortunately both need some degree of restoration. Both have Colt letters. I am trying to decide how to proceed with them. I added a thread to this forum 20 minutes ago re this issue; but as this is my very first attempt to post, I am not sure that it has got thru.
