Hi All

Hello everyone.
I was in the USCG for 9yrs and learned to shoot the 1911 .45 acp in boot camp and I loved every second of it. Ended up qualifying expert in the M16, .45, 12ga. ( I don't know how they scored that but I was ok with it ) and got to play with a .50 cal a few times. Learning to shoot the 12 ga. shotgun with 00 buckshot was interesting. Aim low and left and let the recoil carry the shot up and across. If I would have been told to shoot a shotgun that way prior to the Coast Guard I would have shook my head. Many yrs later I nmow have a .45 again and can't wiat to get some rounds off down range.
Regards
Pat

Hello Everyone

Hi,

I am new to THR. I live in TX and am an FFL with my partner. I like shooting pistols and AR 15s. I am looking forward to shooting in IDPA competitions. I am also looking forward to discussing the problems of having a home FFL and NOT being the one that the home FFL is registered to.

Newbie - First post

I stumbled onto this site today while doing some research on 1911s. So here I am with my first post. My first pistol is a Ruger MK1 and I've owned it for 34 years and still love it. I have a few 9mm (Glocks) KelTec, C Daly anda few long guns. I bought my first gun in 1960 from the Beretta factory while my ship USS Compton DD 705 was in Italy and still have it. Over the years i've bought and sold a few guns. I'm 71 now but still am hunting and a few years ago shot a 7x7 Elk in Montana.

Ahoy Hottip, "Hunter" here. I was on the USS Willard Keith, DD-775, and did my stint for 6 months in the Med., home-ported in Naples, (1961-1962). Never got to the Beretta factory though. Couldn't afford a bullet back then, much less a gun. Only factory I ever visited was a perfume factory up in the hills on the south coast of France near Nice, while on a bus tour. Got some French perfume for my young bride, and that got me some pretty good 'mileage' when I got back home and gave it to her. Welcome to the site. "Hunter"

Howdy boys!!!

I have popped in here many times during internet searches but can't believe I haven't joined till now. So here I is.

New Member Intro

I'm retired from the USAF and I am now a military contractor. I'm not an expert in any gun related field but I enjoy firearms and archery quite a bit. I enjoy shooting my pistols and the model 1911 is my favorite. I have others, such as Glocks, that I enjoy quite a bit. I'm not a 1911 only guy, I just shoot them better than anything else. I enjoy the heritage of the pistol, and I handle it better than the others, so it's my favorite. But I've come to enjoy other pistols as well.
I have a family that is my priority, and realize more miles are probably behind me than in front of me. I believe in this country and our freedoms that we must continue to fight for.
I'm not a member of any other forums, but I have monitored this one over the past couple years and realize the quality of this site. I think it's time to participate a little bit.

Hello all.
My name is Randy. I am a recently retired police officer here in central Kentucky. I was the department firearm instructor, armorer, jack of all trades and master of none. I have two sons, both eagle Scouts and I remain active in Scouting as a Scoutmaster.

I own rifles and short guns and was given my duty weapon, GLOCK 22, as a retirement gift.

My favorite rifle to play with is an original Springfield trapdoor that my father-in-law gave me.

I hope to contribute when I have something worthwhile to add and I hope to learn a great deal more.

Be well.

Randy

Thought it was about time to finally join up since so many times when I do an internet search on a gun issue the most relevent links are from THR. I almost have too many guns. Some are old like Winchesters, Remingtons and S&W, but most are newer like Rugers, Kel-Tec and Browning. Most are for play. The Kel-Tec Sub2000 paired with a Crimson Trace laser being the most fun for the $. Some were bought as an investment, like the nib BRNO 611 and a couple of Winchester and Remmy gallery guns. Well, that's what I tell my wife. ;) I've worked for the same mid size oil and gas company for nearly 25 years. Look forward to retirement so I can have more time to shoot. Hoping to get my 12 yr old son interested in sporting clays.

Hey everyone. New here. 28 yrs old I've always owned and enjoyed firearms. I first got my CCW about 5 years ago and I would say have become much more involved and interested in concealed carry and self defense in the last few years. I'm proud to say my daily carry is a G23 along with an LCP. Have a few others lyin around as well. Trying to learn more about my firearms (mechanically) also been dabbling with some minor customizing lately. Would like to eventually be able to do some real gunsmithing of my own.

Greetings to all. New member from the Cleveland, Ohio USA suburbs. Been some years since being active in shooting and returning to what I love dearly. Originally NYC born and raised and now slightly older.

I enjoy high power rifle shooting but also just about all shooting. The wife and I did own a small brick and mortar gun shop for a number of years before selling the business. I enjoyed taking several NRA gun smithing courses years ago. I especially enjoy working on the M1 Garand and M1A rifles. I also have an affection for older well built S&W revolvers.

Howdy from Texas,

Name is Paul

Retired Firefighter/Paramedic, former SSG in the US Army ( OV-1D Mohawk )
Started my gun hobby with high end air rifles, which are as loud as a rifle at times. Bought a S&W 22A for fun, joined the local rifle range, got my CCW and a Glock 19 then things seemed to snowball out of control:banghead: then two things happened, I got my son interested in guns and then I went Hog Hunting!!! OMG! I thought I was having a heart attack after my first kill, I was Sooo excited. Best pork I ever ate.
I ended up here looking for info on refinishing stocks and stayed. Lots of reading to do here on a hot day, and we have plenty of them here.

Stay safe and shoot straight.

Hello everyone,

My name is Al and I am from the Boston area in the hellhole I call Massachusetts. Our gun laws are about as bad as it can be and I struggle to pursue my shooting passion. I love most all firearms but have a love affair with Ruger and Glock. I hope to gain more information on this forum and talk to some nice people. NortheastShooters is an excellent forum as well but I want to be a member here as well.

Hello everyone,
I just found this site and am very happy to be able to meet people who believe in gun ownership as a right!
I have been shooting sense I was 7 years old, many many years ago. Now I have been helping all my family and friends to get comfortable with proper gun handling, pushing the importance of training, ownership and defense.

I believe in what Jefferson said, "Those who hammer their guns into plows will plow for those who do not." and "The beauty on the 2nd amendment is that it will not be needed until they try to take it."

Very glad to be here!

Thank you all

I also just found this site following a link Flintnapper posted on another forum. This is a great site and has a lot of information. I love participating in like minded discussion and learning from seasoned veterans. I am looking forward to a long happy relationship here.

Hey all,

I am really enjoying THR. I have been a shooter for 20 years but never got into forums but really like this one.

Anyway, My Dad owned guns but never hunted or went shooting much, then a buddy and I went shooting & I decided I needed my own. I got my first, a Ruger GP-100 6" .357 in 1991 and was hooked. I have shot mostly pistol including speed and the silhouette game plus have been reloading almost from the start. VERY satisfying to be a shooter. I love guns, shooting & reloading like crazy. Sounds funny but I only love God, my wife and my kids more. It's been and continues to be a big part of my life. Luckily, my wife wants to get into sporting clays and is really good with my Vaquero .45 Colt. The kids want to learn, too. Great stuff.
