I am new on the forum, I am pro-gun, I "go both ways" when it comes to politics, I love animals, and I love civility.

New member here, former lurker, already like THR

I like the fact that guns are the focus of this site, not a sideshow that comes up in ugly, insult-laced debates.

I like the fact that the site has a far cleaner layout than most other gun-related forums, where advertising swallows the pro-gun message and prioritizes businesses that sponsor it.

I like the secure atmosphere provided by THR; in terms of computer viruses and conflicts with other members, I have had negative experiences with AR15.com and GlockTalk, but this site apparently lacks those threats.

I also appreciate the respect with which this site's members usually treat each other.

If you would like to give your reason for being here on THR, feel free to do so. This is an introductory thread for me and also a "why here" thread for everyone else.

Thank you and I hope that this thread falls within the site's code of conduct. :)

there thousands of different calibers, bullets, and gun available, everyone likes something different, and what works for one person doesn't for someone else, and even if it could, there's always a million different preferences.

i've got a nice collection of toys, but i usually take my underdogs out to play with and leave the modern high tech at home.

i shoot a lot, and when my friend and i go shooting, the plink with average 22.s and i take out my old pot metal stoger luger and match shots against them with rifles, i think it's fun to be told i would be more likeable if i missed once in a while, especially with a cheap luger clone. but like i said, i shoot a lot, and i've worn out two of them already

Welcome to THR & we do sometimes have ugly insult-laced debates............LOL

Lively debates, yes. But insult-laced? Rarely. Tor those threads that do go south with personal attacks and insults, the moderators usually take care of the offending posts and posters very quickly.

Welcome aboard!

Overall this site, along with The Firing Line are the 2 where I spend the most time. Both are great places to have firearms related discussions without a lot of the distractions and verbal bickering.

But I still frequent some other much less civil sites. This is a great place for general discussions, but if you want straight answers about specific questions there are lots of guys at the sites that deal with specific types of firearms that really know their stuff. You can always stay out of the less civil discussions.

Hi all, I hail from Iowa. I'm a big surplus guy and always love to see what a WWII rifle can do. I don't bubba my rifles but I do modify some. Kind of a Mosin Nagant fan but there is nothing wrong with that.

Here are my current and past toys:

Howdy

I want to introduce myself to you I am Ftak from Texas I am new here & I joined your forum for it doesn't get into name calling or the good ole boy mentality that some forums have been hijacked by. Strait shooters who stay on topic & have interesting post & q&a as well. Sites like these are the future & the free market will take care of those that have been hijacked by the members & have lost focus on there origanal mission. This site realizes that there are groups of people among us who would take our weapons the first chance they got so banding together & making out presence known & felt is how to combat those groups. That all aside I am 41 I have two daughters 14 & 21 &!the youngest lives with me. My gear categories extend from Noveske for my rifles Sig for my pistols &TAG for most of my rigs such as mag pouches & plate carriers. I have some night vision by ATN & optics I like are Trijicon & US Optics. I have a web site & I sell the very items I mentioned other than TAG. I live by honesty & integrity & I raise my children strict with a lot of love. My logo is the Templar & my modo is Vim Actionis or Violence of action. That's probably to much info but that's me & I hope to share stories, talk guns, or anything other than spite. Thanks you kindly for your time & nice to meet yall. Good day

Greetings!

The site was recommended by someone in another forum who suggested I should see what it's like to be a minority on the side of the gun debate.

I joined because it looks like the members are able to engage in an intelligent debate and not resort to flaming.

I look forward to sharing some viewpoints and maybe learning a little something in the process.

Hi from Ft Worth Texas I am Ftak & guns have always been a part of the culture here in Texas well in rural east Texas where I am from. I had more guns at the age of 10 than I do now but they were hunting weapons shotguns & rifles. Now it's AR's & Sig pistols but my AR's are custom built specific for this & that. I started with building one & next thing I knew there were 10 & AR'S with optics & all the take up a lot of room in the safe. Soon I hope to share some of my ideas from weapons to body armor. I have just about every type of gear & always improving on ideas from first aid kits to LB vest to hydration rigs. Since I have my own store sometime I may implement some of my ideas. & take some other suggestions & ideas. I look forward.

I found THR while doing a little reloading research, having just started reloading. I initially joined so I could read the whole thread I was on, but I like it here.
