Hello

I kind of miss doing this earlier last week. I stumbled upon the website and got hooked on the Hog problems Flintnapper is having, finished that and started to explore. I am from south east Louisiana and i hunt here, Alabama, and mississpi. I am into reloading, fishing, farming, restoring old tractors, hunting, building and are starting to get into gun smithing, beginning. I just like keeping my hands busy. Can't stand TV, and what is going on with our goverment. My hunting season starts off next weekend and i am all excited, you would think after 40 years of hunting i'd be use to it. My wife hunts, son (22) hunts and now my daughter (29) wants me to teach her. Looking forward to it. I apologize for not doing this before i posted stuff. Thanks and have a great day.
 
Stumbled across the site again... remembered that the forum is one I used to frequent. Low and behold indeed, I'm a returning member. Some how got sidetracked...? I've moved a couple times since I joined and changed puters more frequently than that. I found it again by clicking on a link in another forum that was referencing a thread on THR. Oh boy do I have alot of reading to catch up on.....
 
I 'm James Calico I've enjoyed guns I guess my entire life! Self defence related issues are on my hot list! As well as new guns and related S D equipment! I am A a Oklahoma. Conceal/Open Carry Instructor and a Glock Armorer!
A current interest in my T N W Firearms, ASR which is mulicaliber adaptable carbine that uses Glock Mag's!
If anyone owns one of these I would like to know what your experiences have been esp. Since it a fairly new rifle!
Also anyones experince with the Rock Island /Armcour 1911 (9mm.22 tcm) combo?

Fairly recent new member, Army Vet, life long gun lover. My 3 older bros. put a Springfield 12ga single on my shoulder when I was 5, instant addict!!! I carry a XD 9, and have a small assortment. I'm partial to all military arms. Love bird hunting, bred and trained Labs and Chesapeake's. I reload everything I shoot + some. I've put a couple of AK'S together from bent recievers, now it's AR's. I just got a couple of J R Carbines 9mm's, one for my incredible grandson, when he is old enough. I'VE ALREADY GOTTEN SOME GREAT INFO FROM SEVERAL ON THIS SITE, IT IS GREAT!!!

Hi All, great site with really good info on just about anything you can think of. I'm, Bill from central Mississippi. I have number of military surplus rifles but also enjoy collecting and shooting newer firearms both long guns and handguns.
 
7.62x25 in a broomhandle

Hello. I am a new member and I have never posted anything in my life so bear with me. I am retired after a career of twenty five years in the firearms industry.
There is so much misinformation out there about using Tokarev ammo in a broomhandle I thought I would put in a few words. I have literally shot thousands of Tokarev rounds out of my broomhandle. I have talked to the people at winchester and they assure me that their new white box 762x25 Tokarev ammo is loaded to the same pressures as their 9mm, about 36000 CUP.
Have you forgotten the 9mm Mauser. This round made the 38 Super look puny (128 gr. @ 1360 FPS) Broomhandles had no trouble handling that load and no Broomhandle in good shape will have any trouble with Tokarev ammo.
A tip: Wolff gunsprings makes spring kits for all the old guns, including the Mauser. Before shooting any old gun put new springs in it!

Found this site to seem to have the most knowledgeable of gun 'experts' because as a frequent buyer at auctions and estates I'm coming across more and more antique firearms which give me a migraine trying to figure out their worth and 'reality factor'. So I'm hoping by joining this forum I can learn something.

My latest find from a private estate sale was a 1945 Long Branch No. 4 Mk1* (T) with the matching bracket but no scope. The provenance was well verified to have been in the owner's collection for at least 25 years.

The rifle is in such exceptionally nice condition as to almost belie its age to an antique buyer like myself. All matching numbers and all correct parts and markings and set up. I took it to a couple local experts who were quite impressed with a thumbs up as to being the genuine article in terms of a real war time LB T rifle--except-- for one 'small' problem.

The serial number doesn't match the batch numbers range for Long Branch Snipers. In fact, it doesn't even appear to be a Long Branch serial number. It is in the correct left side spot on the socket and looks normal except it reads 97Cxxxx . As opposed to standard LB serial numbers with xxLxxxx numbers!

The best answer one milsurp appraiser told me was that during the closing days of the war parts and supplies were scarce and Savage, which did have 'C's in their serial numbers were sending rifles and parts to anyone who needed them and Long Branch somehow got some stripped but numbered receivers and partial guns some from Savage, completed them up, and put the Long Branch No. 4 stamp on them and sent them out??

There is a combination of LB AND savage stampings all over this rifle that are hard to figure out but then maybe it came back in for repairs or something?

Any body out there have any ideas or knowledge on this?

I have been visiting this forum for a while and finally decided to join. I shoot a bit of everything, semi autos, both rifles and pistols; 30 cal. bolts, pump shotguns and revolvers. Hunt and reload for all my rifles and pistols. Retired so I have the time to do it now.

I am part of the team that created gunwatcher.com. I am from Kentucky and am a software engineer for a living and have enjoyed programming for a hobby. I collect mostly military firearms but have an extra appreciation for world war 2 rifles. My favorite rifle is probably my m1 garand.

I'm interested in black powder. Just found the black powder section. Guess I should have posted there. I'm an extreme newbie to this forum stuff. Glad I found you guys. About myself... I'm a felon, so black powder will have to be it for me. My Kansas gun rights have been automatically restored since I qualify and have waited the required period for re-instatement. I happened to run onto the postings of the AFTE's ok'ing pin fire guns as acceptable for the antique firearm exception, and I like cartridges, so I am now int pinfire antique firearms.
 
Hi all - I'm Sam, currently living in DFW but soon to move to Lake Mary, Fla. due to a job transfer. My main interest is lever guns, having 5 model 92's from Rossi, and 2 Marlin 336's. Also like my 1911's, but only have 3 so far.

I am new to this forum, only in terms of registration, but I have enjoyed reading a lot of information for years. I am, as you guessed it, is a gun owner and believe in 2A rights. However, I am not a stereotype gun owner like you will find at other forums. I have a family and a job, and I am not rude or mean to other fellows. I hope, this forum will maintain it's standards and will not fall down like AR15.com.

I'm Angela and I am exited to learn everything I can from all the gun experts on here.:D Some of you might know my Uncle Jeff White, I'm not sure what his username is.
I'm probably the only one on here that doesn't own a gun..... but that will most likely be remedied sooner or later (I'm still in high school).

Anyway, I am writing a research paper on the right to bear arms. My thesis is: United States citizens should bear arms, first of all because it is a constitutional right, secondly, because armed citizens promote a safer society, and lastly, because of the negative effects tight gun control has had on numerous U.S. cities. So, if any of you would like to help me out by sending me links to good sources or if you have any pointers I would really appreciate it. My report is to be no more than 6 and no less than 5 pages.

Hi everyone, Ian here i'm down in West Palm Beach, FL but also frequent ATL and Kansas(Lawrence). I've been a guest lurker for a while now and decided i should join. I only have two guns a Polish P-64 and a 44 Tula Mosin Nagant 91/30.
 
Hello everyone. I have loved guns for as long as I can remember. I started off with a Keltec SUB2000 as my first firearm. I like the folding capability and ability to share ammo and magazines with my Glock 22.

I have a Mosin Nagant 91/30 that doesn't kick bad at all. It's a piece of history that has a sticky bolt.

My Ruger 10/22 with the walnut stock is a beautiful rifle but she's ammo-sensitive.

Last but not least is my personal favorite, the WASR 10/63. I love wood furniture on AK pattern rifles. The barrel gets hot and smoky after 60 rounds of rapid fire.

I love all guns. I am a responsible gun owner who emphasizes fun and safety. Safety is always the number one priority when it comes to shooting!
 
Been reading the free threads for quite a while so thought I would join - I'm on a couple other forums so you may have seen my handle other places.

I'm currently a veterinary student at Iowa State. I'm a big hunter (duck, deer, pheasant, turkey, etc, etc) but do a fair amount of pistol shooting as well - to the point that I'm beginning to dabble in handgun hunting now too.

Been shooting for a few years now, and I collect all types of guns from vintage side by sides to milsurp rifles, ex-police pistols to modern black rifles.

Wood/blued/synthetic/melonited/single shots or full capacity mags...it doesn't matter I love guns.
