Another new member here. I don't hunt, but enjoy shooting pistol and rifle. Just getting started in IDPA, and have shot some NRA silhouette matches for rifle. Mainly I shoot for fun and proficiency. I don't have a huge collection, but shoot everything I have, which includes a 91/30 Mosin (1932 hex Tula), a .308 bolt gun (Marlin X7), a Springfield M1A and a 300 Blackout M4 carbine that I built myself. I reload for everything I shoot.

I'm a NRA life member and certified pistol, rifle, and range safety instructor, and an NC certified concealed carry instructor. I served eight years in the USAF as a Flight Nurse and am an Operating Room Nurse now, been a RN for 32 years. I'm a member of a couple of other firearms forums, hope to learn more here as well as contribute.
 
New to THR. I don't hunt (nothing against it, though). The wife and I have been actively shooting for about 3 years now, mainly pistol. No formal competitions (yet).

I have been into reloading for about a year now. It brings out the engineering type in me. So far I reload .380, 9mm, 38 special, 40 S&W, 45acp, .30 carbine, and soon 7.62x39 (for an old .308 bore Ruger Mini 30) and .223.

I joined the board here mainly for the reloading section (ran across it several times during internet searches). Looking forward to learning more about that, and to hopefully contribute some as well.

Hello everyone! I joined because I too am a gun enthusiast and I figured this to be a great place to get info. I live in Wyoming and have an assortment of guns, mainly rifles. I'm not hoarding ammo but I do keep a good supply just in case. I will probably lurk way more than I post and I want to thank you in advance for any advice you are willing to share. I too will share good advice if I can, thanks everyone!

Apparently I was already a member and had forgotten . @ any rate I'm here w a Ruger 10/22, a Rug. sgl. six .22 revolver, a Remington 760 30-06, a Rem. 597, an SKS, a 'Moist Nugget 7.62x54R, a Dan Wesson .357 SS revolver, Marlin 49DL, Glenfield 75, HI-Point 9mm &.45ACP pistols and 9mm Carbine.
 
Well I am a long time lurker, and I signed up last March. It looks like it is time to say something.

I make firearms, am a vet, (M2 instructor for my Co. in Germany 87 - 92) write science fiction for money, crew hot air balloons, help rebuild steam locomotives, fix the stuff air traffic controllers break, and do some prototype machining.

I just finished a non cartridge BP rifle that can be reloaded prone, (photo down in the BP forum) and wanted to say Hi.

Hello all. My name is Henri. My father designed & manufactured custom made handguns. There's an article about his SA 6 shooters in the Nov 1978 edition of Guns & Ammo written by the late great Elmer Kieth. He also worked for the D.O.D. Ok, having said all that - I worked in Dad's machine shop since I was 5 up until I left home for the Service at 17. I came home to Tx after I got out of the service & became a Police Officer. I'm a certified gunsmith & working on my master gunsmith certification. My specialty is 1911's.
 
Hello all.

New to the membership but not new to the discussions, been reading many discussions on here for years.

About myself. Been shooting since 6, been a blacksmith since 8. Grew up in Parke county Indiana in the middle of absolutely nothing but trees and fields.

I have many other interests skills and hobby including hunting, fishing, gardening, canning, etc. my main topic of interest is building legal firearms from scratch. I have designed and built a few and as soon as I figure out controls and functions here would love to post pictures and share my experiences if that be acceptable.

Hi, my name is Bill and I was searching Google for any suggestions for a "sliding scope" and got directed to a question answered on this forum. I really liked the answers I saw and the responses that cautioned about certain fixes. I am fairly new to AIR GUNNING. I am a senior and forced into retirement due to a serious heart problem. I also own a Glock 17 and an old Seiko 243 varmint rifle with a 3x9 scope. I have had it since the 1960's and it is one fine rifle. I used to reload my own ammo for that rifle but don't care to do that anymore. I also have a collector's version of a 30-30 with an octagonal barrel. I recently got into air gunning so I could kill the some of the abundance of squirrels that are overtaking my yard, and I also really enjoy plinking with it. I am currently waiting on the replacement (third) for my Benjamin Trail NP2, 22 caliber, wood stock. I just read a review on it and enjoyed the review. I really like the design and concept and am going to stick with Crosman until I get a good one. I just signed up for this forum, and am still trying to figure out how to post a question! I look forward to getting educated by some of you knowledgeable guys.

owned brand g, m&ps, sigs and h&k in polymer, realized i'm destined to be a 1911 shooter for life.

but, since man can't live by bread alone, also a beretta owner....as well as a 590 special purpose, and a model 8 stag.

I have been reading some posts for information on 38 special loads .
Members here are very generous with their knowledge and experience. I hope to learn more about re-loading. For now I was researching some ammunition notes on some ammo I inherited from a late cousin.
I have been familiar with firearms since a teenager, but I haven't hunted in years and been away from it for some time. I am in NY State and last year I finally got my pistol license to retrieve my father's pistols. A big procrastinator...
I am now 60. I have some long guns, and family pieces. I think pistol shooting is , well , a challenge to do well; and I really think re-loading makes the whole thing more interesting and I am just studying up now.

HI! I'm Erik and my brother is an avid gun enthusiast. However before I bombard him with questions, I want to see how much info I can gather on my own first. I have been considering getting a handgun, but im worried about accidentally breaking our twisted legislation on carry laws. All im looking for at the moment are the do's and don'ts for pistol carry at the age of 18. any advice is appreciated :)

Howdy folks! I am a new member as of a couple days ago. I live in southern Alberta. I hunt mostly big game. Kinda fell out of waterfowl. This year I have licenses for 8 deer, one elk and one cow moose.
I have a cabin in the Kootenays, south of Revelstoke. Lake is 18 miles long and full of Gerrard Rainbows, Dolly Varden and Kokanee. My door and boat is always open to vistors from south of the 49th. Trout Lake City (pop 18 people, 22 dogs) is an old ghost town from 1890's

I have been reading many posts within this forum and have picked up lots of valuable information.

I new to target shooting along with several friends.

We shoot 22, 17HMR, 223 and 308 rifles and a host of hand guns.

Our passion is long range target shooting...for novices we are proud to report we have figured out how to shoot out to 1000 yards accurately using the FN 308 rifle using both Nosler and Sierra hand made bullets.

At the moment I purcashed a Savage 223 VLP DBM bolt action rifle in a 223 1:7" twist 26" heavy fluted barrel. We are looking for more detailed information regarding hand loads.

I have read the long winded 1:7 twist barrel discussion which really got me lost.

Does anyone know the best velocity for a 1:7" barrel shooting the Nosler 77 grain bullet? All I need to know is the best velocity to use, from there I can use the Nosler web page and the Norma gun powder web site to achieve the best load to achieve the velocity...otherwise, I will be experimenting for a long time.

Hello from Arizona

Hello everyone. I joined this forum to have the ability to communicate with educated firearms owners. I recently inherited about 300 firearms from my grandfather after he passed away. So far, I have been taking an inventory of all the different weapons. It has been a little challenging at times trying to identify some of the older guns, but it is pretty interesting. Other than guns, I'm really into motorcycles and enjoy hitting the race track. I'm also a member on some different motorcycle forums, so some people may recognize my user name. See you around.
