New to actually owning / handling guns, live in NorCal; got into it through a friend and an interest in military history. For now I'm mostly doing it for target shooting and self defense, but would like to collect historical firearms someday (don't really have the money for it yet).

Greetings Ric; and welcome. Not sure what "CBI" is, but I do know about background checks. Yes, similar names can be confusing to a computer. Birthdays not so much, as evil-doers will often lie about their date of birth or Social Security Account Number (shocker!).

I'm sure there's a complaint number or address on line somewhere to file a protest or answer to being denied. I'd suggest writing as waiting for a phone to clear is - ah - difficult. I'd suggest offering to provide other identity particulars in the letter, but do not send them blind.

Good luck getting it cleared up.
Thanks Archiem CBI is Colorado Bureau of Investigations, they do our background checks. Never had an issue till last week, Im it will get cleared up. Thanks again.

Hell, I'm new and my name is Jeff.
I think this will be a good place to gain some different views then the column writers. Most reviews show every gun as great. Not all of course, but it seemed that this would be a good place to hear experience.

Hi, my name is Jocko, and I have lived in AZ for 40 years and owned many different guns, mostly revolvers and lever action rifles. I have recently felt the need to get a couple of small Auto's for conceal/carry for me and the wife. I hope to never be in a situation to use on for protection, but the nutty stuff going on in the news every day kind of makes you wonder. This forum looks to be a great resource to keep up with the latest gun tech and gun laws.

Hello to everyone I’m new to the forum. I live in Georgia been a shooter most all of my life. I’m a big fan of Smith and Wesson especially snobby revolvers. I’ve lurked around some other forums but never cared for posting any thing there it seemed like every first timer got belittled pretty bad but THR seems much more friendly and caring. I recently with the price of ammo going so high got into hand loading all ready picked up some very valuable info just reading posts well I’m rambling thanks for having me JimmyMac

Welcome brother. Helpful folks here. Advice is just a few clicks away. Enjoy.

Hello!

I've lurked here for years, but finally decided to join yesterday. I'm a 19 year Army vet and I'm still serving in the Reserve; I enlisted after September 11th and I'm still serving as a company commander in the Reserve. I grew up in the north woods of Wisconsin and settled in the Chicago area.

I enjoy gunsmithing, reloading, being outdoors, hunting and working out. I've built a few dozen ARs; mostly for friends that are Soldiers or first responders. I don't have an FFL, so they get to bring the beverages and work with me on their projects. I also do trigger work, and R&R most auto-loader pistols. My father was a hobby-skilled machinist, so I grew up with a background that made gun smithing relatively easy to pick up. I began reloading a few years ago, mostly because high quality 308 was so expensive... Like most people, I would have saved much more money if I just kept buying Federal GM Match, but I'm a reloader now. In the past few years, I shoot mostly pistols due to living in suburbia. But, I enjoy the challenge of shooting distance when I can.

I'm a life-long Jeep guy too. I currently own more Jeeps than anyone should, but I'd still like to add more if I had the spare cash.

Not much else to add here. If anyone has 1911, Glock, XD, SIG or AR questions I'd be happy to help in anyway I can...

V/R,

Scott

Hi, dosperros123 here. I am a Vietnam Vet and am proud of my 4 years serving my country. I caught the end of the war and ended up taking part in the evacuation and duty at a refugee camp. I have been collecting firearms for about 20 years now. I am the proud owner of a couple Garands, an 03A3, a couple of Springfield Trapdoors and a plethora of other rifles and handguns. I have collected firearms from every battle the US has fought, from the Indian wars right up through nam . I have enough firearms to merit studying for my gunsmith certification. I don't know if I'll worry about a class 1 FFL license and the whole set of complications of running a gunsmith shop. I do have a C &R license and that's enough for me right now. This forum has answered quitee a few questions I have had, and so I decided to become a member. Glad to be aboard

Hello High Road, Patriot88 speaking.

I've visited this forum in the past, and I've decided it's time to make my mark. THR seems like a welcoming place for well-spirited, intelligent conversation. I'm glad to take part in the festivities and hopefully come out all the wiser.

Enamored with PCCs, shotguns, and Kalashnikovs, but I love all guns. Love big bore; appreciate efficiency.

As for related hobbies, I am a huge ballistics aficionado. Charts and tables, chronographs, bullet cross-sections, ballistics gel, you name it, I like it. I'm also quite interested in reloading.

Looking forward to THR.

Hello all. I stumbled on the forum doing a Google search for info and found what I was looking for here. I am mostly shooting handguns nowadays with a few rifles. Getting back into a little reloading to keep me busy.

I'm not actually a new member - but the last time I was active seems to be about May 2009. My mailbox is full of conversations I never got to reply to. I had a bit of an accident on my Harley involving a bloody good look at the underside of a large truck. Two hip replacements later - think making a wish with a chicken wishbone ("mine was please let me pass out I'm in ****ing agony") and a lot of rehab had me up and about many months later but I kind of let my forums slide. I'm back. Hello.

We are glad you survived and glad to have you back. We also hope life isn't quite so exciting going forward!

One of my best high school buddy's was a crew man flying guys off the top of the US embassy. Meanwhile, I was at El Toro when the refuges were brought there.
Glad you came out of it ok!

Welcome aboard. You should be able to find a few threads of interest. We also have a knife section that gets animated every now and again.
