Good Morning, I am Edward Zapolsky, the NC Administrator of the Carry Concealed Handgun Program and I have been directed to this website because of some concerns about a Carry Concealed Handgun Instructor not teaching the course correctly. I would like to invite anyone who has a problem or believes there is a problem with one of our certified CCH instructors to feel free to contact me directly via e mail and I will investigate the allegation(s). Thank you

Hi, new member here

My name is cmanhome and I live in Northeast Florida. I enjoy reading the informative posts on this forum. I used to be an avid hunter in my younger years, but not quite as agile now for it.
My oldest gun in my collection is a chrome plated S&W 38 special, acquired it about 25 yrs. ago. I also have a S&W SWE40 cal., new, a Browning BDA380(one
of my best shooting guns), Ruger 357 Blackhawk, Accu-Tec 380, Taurus .25 and
a CZ70 32, oh and almost forgot a Beretta 25 cal. simi. thats been around for 20yrs.
or so.
I frequent an indoor range in Jax. Fl. all the time for shooting purposes.
I am working on year number 68 right now and read all the posts on lots of gun forums.
Thanks for the use of THR .

Hello from WV

Hello, this is my first forum of any kind, not bad for a ole Hillybilly, Pretty Cool.
Im not much on computers but like the hell out of firearms. I have always been a made in the USA kind of guy, but I sure LOVE those Glocks. Handguns and rifles (battle rifles and hunting rifles) is pretty much what I load and shoot. If I could figure out how to shoot while riding my Harley on the way to my favorite hunting spot (Gilmer County WV) with my two little girls and my dog (Buckshot) while listening to a little George Jones, Well....I guess that would beat all.

New to the game

Hey All,

I'm newto THR and collecting guns in general. Kind of weird since I retired from the Air Force after 22 years, my last 5 in Special Ops. I've used a lot of weapons (including 105, 40mm and 25mm on the AC-130U Gunship), mini-guns on the MH-53s, and 9mm, M-16, etc...but haven't really owned anything other than a .22 in the past. I'm looking to get a .223 for my coyote "problem". Living in rural Texas...they seem to like my house...and my dogs. Guess I need a gun...and maybe some bigger dogs (Doby and Lab aren't big enough I guess!).
Anyway, huge knowledge base on this site. Great info, especially for us "newbies".

Hello!

I've enjoyed reading many of the posts. Learned a lot already. I have a few pistols, 40 year old Colt 25 semiauto, (maternal grandfather's) , a 5 shot 32 revolver probably 45 years old (paternal grandfather's), little 38 two shot derringer (dad's) and a new Smith & Wesson M&P 40. (mine!) Got my carry permit last year. Taken a couple of tactical classes. Really enjoyed it. I am looking to possibly get Smith & Wesson Model 640 Centennial with laser grips. Anyone have any thing to say about pro's and con's of the 640? Thanks.

Hello Folks!

Greetings,

I'm a native Californian that has seen my state and the nation in general deteriorate from some semblance of Liberty and Freedom (I purchased a German Mauser via mail order without any ID when I was around 12 years old - those days are gone), to one of almost total oppression. Although I grew up with guns as a child, they were never really a "hobby" of mine although I do make the occasional trek to the local shooting range. It's just not the same as being able to walk around open range-land and plink at things however. Nowadays I consider myself more of a collector than anything else. I started collecting guns and ammo when I realized how serious the deterioration of our liberty has become and the direction things are headed. You can read my views on most things, including guns, at my website. I haven't updated it for several years, but most of my views haven't changed since then either.

I'm wondering if it's safe to stack cases of ammo in the cardboard boxes they ship in, and if so how high? They are generally so heavy I figure it would be unsafe to stack one on top of another unless the ammo was in metal ammo containers. This thread probably isn't the right place to be asking a question however, so I'll probably repost it in the General Discussion forum unless someone can help with that question here.

I am happy to be here, and hope to be an asset to the forum rather than an ass. ;)

Hi all,
I have been a lurker here for a long time. Since THR has been such a good resource for me, I finally decided to make my presence known. Maybe I can return some of what I have recived here.

Hello,

This is an excellent forum and I have learned quite a bit already.

I recently purchased a CMP M1 Garand for range target use at my local Sportsmen's Gun and Rod Club. I was surprised I was able to obtain the M1 and have it shipped here to Massachusetts.

I have also been an active participant in my American Legion's Honor Guard's rifle squad in support in veteran's funerals. I have floated the concept of offering myself and Garand for veteran's funerals when they can not get the Legion to attend (another story). My father was a WWII veteran and his funeral (quite a few years ago) had only 1 rifleman but it still had a dramatic effect. Thus, my offering.

I know quite a bit about veteran's organizations, rules obtaining M1s from the US Gov't, the BFA blank firing adapter, and obtaining blanks. My most memorable detail was taking our rifle squad into Boston in support of a veteran's funeral. I called ahead but you would might be surprised how many police departments don't know the rules about ceremonial rifles.

I might try to pick up a M1903 Springfield...

thanks,
Ed

New guy from connecticut.

Hello all,

I have been lurking here a long time. Lots of good info on the site. I spent almost 23 years in the Navy, got out in 2005, currently looking for a real job. I like to shoot IDPA. As far as I am concerned you/I can never have too many guns. CCW for the past 12 years, for me a PT380 in the pocket is better than an AUTOMAG in the safe, if its too big you won't carry it, plain and simple. I only have one requirement for my guns; they must shoot each and every time I pull the trigger. My dad taught me what I think is the only firearm safety rule; treat all guns as loaded guns. If you follow this rule all others are just different ways to say this same thing.

I used to have strong opinions about how others lived their lives and raised their children, I was an expert on child rearing until my one and only daughter turned 13. My goals for her went from all A(s) in high school and going on to college and medical school to praying she would graduate from high school and not be on drugs or pregnant. She is now 20 and her brain is growing back, she just started college and is making A(s), working as a veterinary tech and she can't wait to go to medical school (which is why I am looking for a real job!).

Hope I can make a worthwhile contribution to the site.

Howdy!

I'm a Texan, a fundamental Christian, and a diehard conservative. I'm about 2 1/2 years too young to get my CHL, though you can bet I will be in class the day after I turn 18.

I didn't grow up around guns until the past two or three years or so. Between my Dad and I we have several handguns, shotguns, and rifles, so I'll be posting about those later on. I've gleaned a lot of helpful information from this site and thought it was high time I joined!

Hey all!

I am new here and I would like to share a pic of the new paint job I got on my Remington 700ss R5 mil .308.

I had it done with DuraCaot by Dawson Customs LLC in Montana.

If anyone has considered doing a custom job I would have to say that DuraCoat is the way to go. The quality is second to none and the paint is extremely durable!

For more pics of different guns you can look up www.dawsoncustoms.com or just google DuraCoat and see what you see.

I am pinkerpv, new member, retired Army, recently retired engineer, love to shoot, hunt, remodel, live in North Alabama-Huntsville area. Have 5 children, grown and gone, 4 grand children. I have some shotguns, pistols and starting to get into rifles. Plan on getting an AR15 soon. Want to start buying and selling. May do some reloading too.

Hello, my name is Jay. I have a variety of shooting interests and backgrounds. Was raised in a firearm friendly family & environment, and have extensive military training and experience with a wide variety of firearms.

Hey, my name is Bryan, and I've just recently gotten myself into the gun hobby. My dad had his old guns sitting in the closet for years, but all the same, I never really had access to guns, or a chance to shoot the ones he had. Well, one day he told me that if I took care of getting a cabinet so they could be legally stored, I could have them.

Since then, I've gotten my license, and picked up a couple of my own. Right now, I've got 2 favourites - my Tikka T3 Light in .338 win mag, because it's the first gun I ever bought, and my .303 British, because it's a 91 year old antique, and a family piece.

I have a passing interest in handguns, but long guns is what I'm really enjoying so far. Now that I have the guns - I've gotten myself into reloading, and I want to get myself into hunting. My biggest problem though - in looking at guns I want - I have a really hard time getting myself to look at the smaller, and perhaps more appropriate calibers - for some reason, I'm finding myself really drawn to the big bores. It must be the big boom! I just need to start working my way up, so I don't suddenly go from .338 win mag to .505 Gibbs (the one that has me really fascinated) only to find out one shot is all I ever want to take!

Anyhow, I've only had a quick look at the forums so far, but they look great at first glance.

Hi all,

I was born in Houston and raised properly for a few years. Then we moved to Austin and I received some sort of brainwashing over the years that turned me into a "liberal" during my high school and part of college. Well, I grew up, and have now reverted back to Texan status. Thank God.

newbie

I am a pastor who believes in the right keep and bear arms. I believe it comes from God and not from any government. I like shooting. I like learning new skills involving guns. I luv teaching all of my children about guns; my kids are 23, 9, 6 and 4 years old. They all love to shoot. I am interested in every political aspect of guns, whether it is wasting paper or the revolutionary war.

Hey

Hey, I'm new to the world of gun ownership and made my first purchase with an m&p 9mm by Smith and Wesson. I'm hoping to make a few more purchases over the summer break when I'm not taking classes down in Florida State. I'm thinking Remington .308 followed up with a Mossberg 12 gauge for deer hunting season, as well as a .22 for target practice. Ive been reading a ton of the threads on the site and its amazing how much yall know about this past time.

Hi all. I moved to LA in December, and have been reading on various forums about OCing.

Last weekend I purchased a Ruger SR9 and have "taken it for a walk" a couple of times. I have to admit it feels very strange to have a side arm on my hip while walking around in public.

For those of you that may be curious why I decided to OC, I have a couple reasons. My work finds me in some not so good areas, and I do feel more comfortable with the weapon. I feel it is a deterrent. I do not believe that most want to approach an armed individual when they can find one that is not. I also am doing it because it is legal and it seems a bunch of *******s want to deprive me of my choice do so. I get this from my motorcycle riding also. I choose do it, and do not need anyone's approval. If you do not care do as I do, then do not. That is your choice.

Thanks for all the information you share on here. I hope to be a positive contributor myself.

Ron

hey

Hello all!
I'm a brand new member I was drawn to your thread on the Norinco 982 after I unknowingly purchased one (I was just looking for something for HD, had no idea what a Norinco was) at Kansas's biggest gunshow a few weeks back. I am 20 still have a whole year til 21 and my CCW. I'm getting married in 2 months and I recently got my own place in the city--although I live in the midwest this world is getting more dangerous every day and I want to be able to protect myself and my wife. I have always been interested in guns/knives but most of my knowledge is handgun specific. I am looking for some items (pistol grip, etc) to shorten up my Norinco 982 as I live in a small 2bedroom apartment, any ideas about where to find some mods would be much appreciated! Is there anything better to leave in my shotgun than Law Enforcement 00 Buckshot? I'll be in Tulsa next month for the biggest gunshow in the world--cya y'all there!
