I just read Henry Repeating Firearms Co. is building a soon to be released magazine fed rifle in .308, .243, .223. Will have bolt lugs that lock into the barrel. Anyone know more? Sounds interesting.

Similar to the Browning BLR in concept, but not the same exact rifle.

Matte finished hard anodized frame, gear-driven action, 6-lug rotary bolt head, STEEL flush-fit detachable box magazine, 20-inch round polished & blued barrel, in-hammer sliding transfer bar "safety", initial introduction with high stock for scope use, no sights, checkered walnut two-piece furniture, seven pounds empty.

There are differences between it & the Browning, the Henry's trigger does not travel with the lever, for instance.
Suggested retail roughly $1000.

Should be available by mid-summer at the latest, most likely sometime in First Quarter.

Same general profile as the Browning.
I don't have a photo.

I wish someone would make a repro of the M1895 Winchester complete with stripper clip slot!! :D

That would be AWE-SOME PAW-SOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Calibers offered in the new Henry will depend on demand & sales.
They could easily expand, but I wouldn't expect too much in fringe calibers.

I've read that the name for this new rifle will be the H014 Long Range Lever Action Rifle. It sounds a lot like a BLR at a price not any better than the BLR. I'll be interested to see what Henry's value proposition is for this rifle.

The final name's still undecided as of yesterday, but that's the model number.
Denis

It must be magazine fed I assume. Maybe standard hunting cartridges like 243, 270, 308. Interesting, hopefully a takedown model , hint hint . where can I read more about this ? I have a lever gun Fascination, mostly Marlins and one BLR. Would like to own a Henry one day.

Deog,
See Post #2.

.223, .243, .308.

No take-down version mentioned yet.

If the powers that be are listening, pistol grip walnut stock and takedown version please.
I agree about the takedown part. That would go from me saying, "Eh, that's interesting" to "OMG, I WANT ONE NOW!"

At the very least it would have to be a short-throw lever action.

Name is now the Henry Long Ranger, unless it changes again. :)

Pretty much standard 90-degree lever throw.

Just had to say this is a great community with folks like Denis that are actually tuned/tied in to the gun manufacturing industry and can give us the lowdown!

Ok, I like the name. Any other tidbits of insider info you can drop on us?

Already gave you most of what I could.

Any concerns about the perpetual issue of "Henry Zamak" do not apply here.
Receiver is a solid aluminum alloy.

Barrels are triple stress-relieved.
MIL-B 11595E steel, Henry says a better choice than 4140.
Button rifled.

This is NOT a budget or entry-level rifle. :)

I assume the .308 comes with a threaded 20" barrel, and is easier to disassemble for cleaning than the BLR? ;)

To tell you the truth, I'm not far enough into the gun yet to answer those. :)
It's in line, but hasn't rotated around to its day in the sun yet. Have not asked.
The 20-inch barrel's correct.
Denis

Sure.
I don't have a manual here & the two questions Scotty asks have not been part of conversations with Henry.

The other info I gave was.
