On my way through Springfield, I stopped in to see the NRA Museum. It was really quite impressive. Many intriguing pieces. Worth going to see.

At the far end of the museum there is a doorway to the Archery Hall of Fame. Photos, medals, bows and arrows from archery champions, hunters, and equipment manufacturers. Even though this is a firearms forum, many are also interested in archery.

So it is actually two museums in one.

Did Y'all know the compound bow was invented and patented by a Missouri deer hunter in the 1960s? I didn't until I saw it on display.

That place is going to get even better. One of the employees told me that they are going to build a large indoor pistol range under and beyond the museum, to replace the little range in the basement, and are designing it with pistol competitions in mind.

Does anybody know anything more about that?

Only heard about that "new range". Also heard that it would be underground and long enough for rifles. More bays, and a dedicated door so you wouldn't have to "check stuff at the door" [if you aren't conceal carry].

I hope it happens. That range can get busy at times.
