"This message is to confirm receipt of your message. I have spoken with the New Mexico National Guard LTC Judkins, Commander, Task Force Plaquemines, and want to ensure you that none of the NM National Guard soldiers are engaged in disarming citizens. The soldiers and airmen do however, support law enforcement agencies and officers in controlled missions. Thank you for contacting Governor Bill Richardson. Sincerely, Matt Ruybal"

Thus spake the PR flack concerning the position of the Governor of New Mexico on NO firearms confiscation.
Please notice the qualifier concerning support of the police.

Remember this statement during the next presidential primary.

Sam, I would say Bill Richardson gave an acceptable response. The New Mexico National Guard isn't disarming anyone.

Down in Georgia, we have a total idiot for a governor named Sonny Perdue. He is the first Republican governor of Georgia since Reconstruction, and probably the dumbest we have had since then too, and we have had some doozies down here.

I contacted his office, and was told that Georgia National Guard would do "whatever is asked" of them regarding gun confiscation.

As far as I know, the Georgia National Guard hasn't confiscated any guns, but it doesn't look like its because Sonny told them not to. The response from his office is just down right unacceptable.

I was not going to vote for Sonny anyway, he has done nothing for us as governor, but this sure is another good reason not to vote for him.

II'll find Judkins when he gets back. I don't care for the "controlled missions" business at all. At least The bothered to reply.

Anybody else got any answers from their govs?
They can't listen if you don't talk. Everytime our point comes across teh desk the campaign manager marks us up another 5K votes.

Keep them hopping.

This fourm is in sad shape.

I am over the members of this forum. You think your right to bare arms is being infringed upon because law enforcement is confiscating firearms in am desiccated city. My God the stupidity in that logic is sickening. Who do you people think is left down there any way? With no way to identify the people who are there what should be done? The Guard will kill armed people if they are seen in a threatening manner. Or maybe they should let them stay armed and bus them to Texas? May be you didn’t know that the conditions there are to the point where ten of thousands of LA homeless are buying up guns to protect there families at the shelters. The people who are legally allowed to own firearms will have no problem getting another gun after they have left the city. All the members of this forum are doing is supporting government contempt and advocating its overthrow. What a group said little outcasts. If you were able to see the big picture you might understand law enforcement needs to ensure social stability in order for the rebuilding to begin. Leo’s are the hero’s here not the enemy. You act like the Leo’s don’t have families there, their homes are gone too, yet those men and women stay and serve. You all need to show them the respect they deserve. How many of you would run to city to help? I bet it is a real short line. I suggest those of you can’t understand this post ignore it. I also suggest those of you who can’t wait to bash law enforcement, try it. Be men go to your local academy; see if you got what it takes. If that’s not your cup if tea then join up and serve either way don’t criticized the men and woman who are in harms way everyday for our nations greater good with you ignorant poly physic bull

My, my ....

I see we have a new troll here...

I really prefer trolls who can spell, and use at least elementary school grammar.

Voltron, you really should get a good dictionary, and learn to write in complete sentences. I think you may have set a new record for the most errors in a single post.

For some reason, I bet you won't still be around here in a couple of weeks.

wow name calling how HR of you theres one person who's not in line. Oh I been here for years and if post 50 times I get my member status

You know, I really should not have posted what I did. You are indeed correct Voltron, my comment was not very high road.

Perhaps you would like to reconsider your initial post, though, and state your point using the English language this time.

Voltron asked, "Who do you people think is left down there any way?"

What has been seen of any confiscation to which people here are objecting is from HOMEOWNERS. People with a known address, and in their homes. And, it appears, people who prepared as to food and water, and whose houses were not flooded beyond habitability.

Nobody is talking abut street-trash or hoodlums or looters or gang-bangers or anybody else who commonly or historically would be expected to possibly misuse a firearm and be a danger to those engaged in rebuilding.

Voltron, if you and your house had survived a storm, and you realized that you could survive comfortably in your house, would you have any resentment at some arbitrary confiscation of a firearm for which you relied on for self-defense against some possible viiolent looter?

As for a response of, "No, I would have evacuated," please see Preacherman's stickies in the Strategy & Tactics forum.

Yes, they definitely are infringing on the 2nd Amendment of the Constitution of the United States of America (not to be confused to some other country).

The Guard will kill armed people if they are seen in a threatening manner.
As they should. The non-threating civilians should keep their firearms so they can protect themselves after the NG and LEOs leave.

You act like the Leo’s don’t have families there, their homes are gone too, yet those men and women stay and serve.
While wearing/carrying firearms.
Also, if you look at the news reports, there are thousands of unarmed volunteers working to feed, clothe, and care for the evacuees..

If that isn't the epitome of authoritarian arrogance!

The man just can't grasp why a law abiding citizen should want to retain his lawfully owned firearm to be able to defend his home and family against marauding rape, pillage and plunder during a time of such civil turbulence.

We should just rely on him and his ilk to protect us. Just paint "911" on your rooftop and wait 3 days.

I think Voltron has hit upon the solution folks.......giant bags of silicon dessicant dropped from the air to dry out the city. That stuff does a great job in my gun safe.

More words of wisdom from Voltron on another thread:

well they wish

Actually, I do share his Slavic heritage but I must be from a different part of the region because I'm 6'7", blonde, and skinny.

Plus, I don't enjoy pain at all.....even if it does let me know that I'm alive :neener:

Every time you try to describe a true liberal you will fail...unless you just sit back and let them describe themselves.

I think your opinion has been invalidated by your presentation, sir.

That’s right use all that pent up misguide hostility against anyone whose views are contrary to your own. It is tolerable for you to throw stones after all it is a protected right. However this thread is more like the freeman group, not poor Richard. If you read that thread would see we were discussing authors. Shame on you for attempting to insight the masses

As to the people who are left in New Orleans, they are on an island. With more the 80 percent of the structures suffering flood damage, the risk of life threatening infectious diseases or other incurable long term heath risks are putting them in preeminent danger. Antibiotic reentrance strains of otherwise easy curable infections put all of us at risk.

I-10 is the major life line for all goods into that city. I-10 is for the most part gone. When the air operations slow, the people still in there homes will become more desperate, anyone on the outside looking in will be relatively helpless to assist those individuals.

I understand that it his hard to accept that life doesn’t revolve around firearm ownership and passive aggressive governmental overthrow agendas. It revolves around people. For anyone here to suggest some one in New Orleans can securer their homes and remain comfortable is just ridiculous. A disaster of this scale has not be seen by this generation, but to suggest that disarming citizen has something to do with a government injustice and not a securable safety measure for relief workers is simply idiotic.

Address HR comments

To Art (viiolent looter)?

I have survived nearly a dozen hurricanes, countless snow storms 2 F-4 and 1 plains flood. However all of those experiences pale in comparison, in scope.

Desert dog

Martial Law trumps amended rights in times of national emergency. Don’t take my work for it, ask any Japanese American who place in an interment camp

You would rather see the National Guard kill people? YOU ARE SICK AND NEED HELP. That would just give people on this forum something more to use in attempting to validate their own agendas which is common practice here.

Yes LEO’s have guns, the also have training, less lethal options and a since of duty. I doubt you have ever taken a pre employment poly graph.

This bears repeating:

“If that isn't the epitome of authoritarian arrogance!”

WOW good use of a thesaurus. We acutely agree the Arrogance here is astounding. Notice the literary use of the inappropriate capital letter A

“The man just can't grasp why a law abiding citizen should want to retain his lawfully owned firearm to be able to defend his home and family against marauding rape, pillage and plunder during a time of such civil turbulence.”

WOW The sensible question here is what kind ignorant arrogant self deloused man would believe he can provide and protect his family in this environment. Wait he has guns that problem will resolve itself. Most violent uses for fires arms related crimes are against the family anyway.

“We should just rely on him and his ilk to protect us. Just paint "911" on your rooftop and wait 3 days.”

Wow if there is trouble people call 911 to get law enforcements assistance. That’s amazing because no one called but there right outside your door asking you to do what’s best for your family.

“Did Mr Voltron get too many volts? or an unsupervised visit to the evidence locker?”
Funny, no really I mean it

If there were only such a simple solution to this situation

This forum is full of Richard Marcinko types, yes it is. But don’t forget the freeman and wacko types as well.
