Well I took a day off and got to spend my morning doing some LR shooting again at 700/800/1000 yards. Brought my Savage 110 My previous best 10-shot group had been well over 6", but today I must have been "in the zone". 5.53" 10-shot group at 1000. Not Guineas material but I'm still happy with the results so I had to share! Load used was a Berger 300gr Match Hybrid OTM, seated to an OAL of 3.792 in Nosler brass hitting a tad over 2700 at the muzzle. Last time I used factory 285gr ELD loads from Hornady, but in the months in between I had developed this Berger load and man did it pay off. My optic was at 24x, (6-24 Viper PST). Probably going to be replacing this soon because I want an MOA scope on this rifle.
I also brought my Ruger 6973 in 6.5 Creed as well and got some "plinking" done with it at 700/800. I wasn't happy with my groups but atleast I was on paper most of the day.
All in all though I am SUPER pleased and today has been a great day!

I would love to shoot at those kind of distances. Maybe one day I will have a chance. That 1000 yard group is damn impressive.

Thank you all for the comments. I was really happy to see myself get under 6" as that has been a goal for the last few outings. Being as I don't live out west in the larger more open states, my options for shooting at that range are pretty spread apart so I can't do it as often as I like. For only getting out at that distance once a month or so I am progressing very well. I have to give a lot of credit to the rifle too though; that Savage 110 is an amazing performer. I have maybe $2000 Into the entire setup including the optic and in the accuracy department its on par with guys rigs costing much more. Real comfortable to shoot as well; I don't find myself having to reposition the rifle on my shoulder for comfort even after extended shooting sessions. I want to change the glass on it eventually but the problem is all of the new optics I like cost as much as the rifle did when new so the last two times I set out to buy a new premium optic I ended up bringing home new rifles instead lol.

Congratulations on a fine day at the range, real fine. Not sure how far I would need to travel to find 1,000 yards of unobstructed range. :)

Congratulations, that is amazing. I was pretty happy to hit an elk at 284 yds. last weekend.

guess that is why they call you deadeye

We have targets set up on Public grazing land out to 1 mile. We have the targets set up starting at close range through the various distances in between. I shoot my Sharps .45-110-550 at the 600 yd steel.:)
