Rumor's been flying, but it looks like it's official, so I thought I'd post it here:

http://idpaforum.yuku.com/topic/6941/Reduction-of-the-power-floor-for-SSR

IDPA HQ has lowered the SSR PF requirement to 105,000 from 125,000 so those who don't reload can shoot factory .38spl ammo. Effective January 17th.

So, all you guys who have a .38/.357 revolver and a holster, there's now one fewer reason to not come out to your local IDPA match! :D

That's going to be even harder to make with my .44 Spc!

Now I'm going to have to COUNT the individual grains of powder to go that low!

:D

Yeah! That's the ticket! I can make them get to the target faster than I can eat a sandwich.

Let's see, 105 pf...assuming I stick with my standard 200 gr. RNs, that's 525 fps. Wow. I wonder if it's legal to make a scouring hit "on the bounce?" Not sure that's fast enough to get all the way to the target before gravity takes over.

Well, I've loaded 230s to less than 600 fps for .45 ESP. They seem to do all right without having to go for the first bounce, but I prefer a 200 at 650.

but I prefer a 200 at 650
Sheesh. I load to 825 and don't consider them to be "hot" but that way I can shoot ESR or SSR as the mood strikes me.

Just signed up for the MD State match in SSR, though, and might indeed try to scrape the bottom just for yukks.

What it would allow is for those who have a 38 SC/9mm 686 to use 95 gr LRN bullets intended for a 380 ACP. At 1200 fps, those rounds are like shooting a cap gun in 9mm. I've got em close to 1400 fps out of my bottom feeder and mild is an understatement.
