(This might be the wrong forum, I apologize.)

ABC news has a piece at:

Interesting story and notice the poll to the right, should guns be allowed on campus. So far it's 6:4 yes (I found it early!)

And I commented:

I am a progressive liberal on political and social issues, but I also happen to support the second amendment and my right to defend myself. Those who have posted comments that being armed will only result in more accidental deaths are only speculating on this. In fact, there are law-abiding citizens who legally carry handguns all around you. You just don't know it because they (depending on the state) are trained before they can carry a weapon and carry it concealed. Those of us with concealed carry permits are not crazed, gun-happy thrill seekers. Actually, in my experience, the opposite is true. Others I know who have carry permits are not only law-abiding, they are also keenly aware of their responsibilty to de-escalate potential violence. I do not carry a firearm for immature, ego-driven reasons. When I have a firearm in my car or on my person, I am the same person when I am without a weapon. The difference is that when armed, I am prepared to defend myself or others in a life-threatening situation. If you were faced with a person intent on killing you on the street, you would prefer to have me near you than someone who is unarmed.

I voted. :)

Now, here's a little advice when it comes to posting poll links. Don't! Well, in other words.... Don't post "hot" clickable links. Just type in the link address and let members or whoever copy the link and let them paste it into their own browsers. Reason... When you click on a hot link, the site that you are going to can trace where the traffic is coming from. So, when there is a gun poll being taken, news sites will most of the time void the poll if all the traffic is coming from either a pro or anti gun related site or forum. Not alot of people know about this... I've gained this knowlege from 2 sources... A buddy works at local newspaper and works in their online/website dept. and... It's how I detect where my traffic is coming from for my forums. I just check my stats once a week to see where people are coming form, websites, search engines, hot links (images), etc.

To help prevent school shootings, the South Carolina legislature may approve a bill to allow concealed weapons on campus.

Do you think this is a good idea?

Yes. This will give students and faculty a chance to defend themselves.

No. Fighting violence by letting everyone have guns is not the answer.

Good for you Frandy, I commented as well, under Bigfatts. We need more comments, we're getting pummelled by antis on the comment side of it.

Not a scientific survey.

When posting a link on THR, it may be a good idea to insert some kinda of break in the link (ie, put *** in the middle and tell people to remove it).

Here's why: I accidently pasted the link into google and here's what it pulled up (look at the 2nd link on the list) :uhoh:

http://www.google.com/search?q=abcn...-us&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&startIndex=&startPage=1

If the author of the poll wanted to google his/her own link, they'd quickly find this thread.

Just for thoughts when posting future links.
