A new Security Six would not be like the old one---in name only with different innards (probably GP100) and different overall cosmetics much the same as the
new Python.

Good to hear! Always liked the Security Six with the 4" heavy barrel, just the right length and balance.

Geez Mike, do you have a unicorn also?

Honestly, I don't why Ruger doesn't come out with a mid sized revolver. I've handled and shot the GPS and I can't say that they thrill me. It's like shooting a boat anchor. To me anyway. The Six Series are way more handy and graceful.
I consider my SP101 to be a midsize. Smaller than my Security Six but a little larger than my LCR's.

My SP101 2.25" is about 10 ounces lighter than my Speed Six 2.75" which handles 357s much better than the SP. As to the GP100 feeling like a boat anchor, the S&W 686 weighs the same. I agree with KevininPa that the Six Series handle better and are less bulky.

Probably the only gun I've ever sold that I regret was a 2 3/4" SS Security Six and that was at least 30 years ago. I doubt If I'll ever find another Ruger, but as soon as my local gun shop can locate one I'm buying this. They quoted me $700. Now if Ruger did ever decide to bring it back, or put the GP-100 on a serious diet I might go with Ruger.

I sent a message to the Ruger CEO through their “Tell the CEO” program.

After reading this thread and the thread about the .38 Special vs .357 Magnum I decided to send a message to Ruger.

Here it is:

Mr. Killoy,
I am a big fan of Sturm-Ruger’s single action revolvers. I have owned more than a few Vaqueros and a couple of Blackhawks. My favorite long gun is my 9mm PC Carbine and my favorite fun guns are my Ruger 10/22 carbines. Soon I am adding 2 RedHawks to the fold, a 5050 .45 and a 5059 8-shot .357 Magnum.

Anyway, I would like to ask that you folks consider making an adjustable sight 6 shot (or more) .38 Special revolver for those of us that enjoy target shooting, plinking and training with a non-magnum revolver.

Also, I would like to request better front sight options in your “Accessories” line for each type of gun you all manufacture. Not everyone likes those fiber optic sights that have become popular. People with even the slightest astigmatism and other sight issues do not benefit from a blob of light at the end of the barrel.

Please consider the .38 Special recommendation. An SP101 with adjustable sights, a 6 round capacity and a 4.2” barrel or longer would be wonderful.

Thank you for your time.

Curious as to the answer you receive.

I wrote to Ruger's CEO several times about maybe reissuing the Six Series but I never heard anything back. And then I started to see a message saying he was away on business and would be back soon. That was some time ago but I see he's back and hopefully listening to our suggestions once again.

A guy can dream...
