    Some nice-looking hardware there.

Did you notice the first gun firing where it showed the bullets impacting the dirt bank? You could actually see the rounds' flight paths. I don't think they were tracers, but more like vapor trails. Kinda weird.

    some explanations about hardware:

    1. machine gun firing traces (yes, these were tarcers). The PKP Petcheneg, and upgraded Kalashnikov PKM in 7.62x54R, with forced cooling barrel

    2. Serdyukov SPS pistol and SR-2 Versek SMG, both in 9x21mm AP

    3. 7.62mm PSS silent pistol, firing gas-seal self-silenced ammunition

The Lewis LMG from WW1 used forced air cooling (that's the reason it had the big barrel jacket) and after the war tests revealed if I remember right that it really didn't help that much.

Granted that was designed around 1905, and this is 2004, but i'd want highly extensive testing before adoption of the new PKM.

MrMurphy, there was testing. Actually, PKP is capable of firing 600 rounds in one continuous burst withouth any damage to the barrel. techology improved over last 100 years, isn't it?
