I just posted photos of some new guns from S&W which will be announced at SHOT Show in January.

I put a review of the new shotguns there. You'll also see the compact M&P, the .45 ACP M&P (with a mod you've never seen), and a tricked-out M&P used by agencies which can not be named. <grin>
 
I think i could deal with that safety on the .45ACP M&P, of course i'd really like to see them put out a model without the safety.

Heck, I might even be able to put up with the green color.

Looks like the safety will go into the internal lock hole from the pics. That means an easy retrofit between external safety and no safety models I think.
 
There definitely will be a model without the safety. This model (with the safety) was mandated by the U.S. Military in what it wants to see in the trials for a new sidearm.

Of course, it'll be available in basic black.

Might be some other really interesting things coming down the line. (shhhhh)

Did I mention the M&P chambered for the .500 Magnum? No?

I agree, Smith & Wesson has been pretty good with the M&P meeting consumer demand for guns without the safety. It shouldn't take long for a no external safety model.

Now I wish they'd just pull their head out of their A--, and get rid of the lock(or at least make it optional) on their revolvers.

Wow I like that compact, it looks to me like it still has the interchangable backstrap. Is that true?

The compact does have interchangeable grips in 3 sizes.

Only the 9mm compact has been seen on the market, not the .40 pictured.
 
Does S&W have better QC now? The guy must have been on vacation when the last couple Smith auto's I (used to) owned where manufactured. And now shotguns! Awful lot of those on the market. Who are they targeting?
 
Their shotguns are made in Turkey. Which has a reputation for making junk guns. Though a few Turkish manufactures seem to be improving their products under supervision of Western plant managers, and QC experts.

I know several people that have bought new S&W guns in the last few years, and they all had problems with them to some extend. Most where minor issues like ill fitting parts, abnormal wear or cosmetic blemishes that should have been found by QC. It seems their QC is hit or miss. One had a problem with light primer strikes, and a very poor trigger on his DK 1911. Even with these problems Smith customer service took care of them and the guns where fixed or new parts sent.
 
Some guns made in the U.S. are junk.

Some guns made in Spain are junk.

But . . . wouldn't it be smarter to actually judge the quality of the firearm you are talking about rather than talk in generalities?

My prediction: There may not be enough cajun seasoning to spice up all the crow that's going to be eaten once these guns hit the market.

Remember . . . I've seen them and shot them.
 
What would the capacity on the mags for their new 45 be? Would it be similar to the XD, because I just bought an XD tac in 45acp and now I am thinking maybe I should have waited a few months. I am also very pleased with my S&W 1911DK mine is a great gun.

That same site shows the new Taurus .45 as well, and it looks a hell of a lot better than the M&P.

But you can see the Taurus on their own website as well :p

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I think the OSS is ugly, but I still find it interesting. These are combat guns and are designed to be functional, not pretty.
