Didn't see this posted anywhere else (even searched) so sorry if it's a dupe:

Finally upped the capacity on the Shield, but I think they're still a bit behind the curve; the 4" barrel looks interesting, though.

OP, do you have a link to the S&W sight with this info? I can't find it. The only thing I can find is a link to a spec sheet, but it's requesting a password as it appears to be for dealers only.

I'm afraid I don't have a link for S&W, I saw this posted on the Indiana Gun Owners forum.

I understand this is a leak of a 'surprise' announcement due out today from Smith.

Yep supposed to be new models announced tonight and they have already preshipped some to dealers.
They will be for sale tomorrow, 3-16-21

They change trigger configuration and pull, why go from 5lb 2.0 to 10lb ? Must be for AIWB.

Glad I went ahead and purchased the M&P9SC instead of waiting on the reveal.

Is this the 1st that they've switched from hinged trigger to a dingle trigger?

This is a welcome change, at least for me. I never warmed up to the hinge trigger on my old shield back in the day. Smart move on S&W in my opinion.

I'm ordering one and am debating whether to get one with the thumb safety. It looks like the thumb safety on these is pretty small, which may make it more difficult to use. Can anyone confirm that?

I've been very happy with my old original Shield. This Shield Plus is the first handgun in this size that's come along since that I may actually buy as a replacement. A few more rounds, a flat trigger, the 2.0 grip texture and M&P reliability which I personally regard as equal to Glock at the top of the heap. Plus I can get one without a manual safety which wasn't an option when I got my Shield. I like the safety on the Shield as far as they go, it's not obtrusive but still easy to operate and very tactile. But I've gotten to where I prefer no manual safety.

BTW, the 10 lb trigger is just in certain restricted states.

I have an original Shield with probably 4000 rounds through it. I'd like to try one of these. I might also be interested in the optics ready model.
At the MSRP of the optic ready model the new Ruger looks to be the better buy. Time will tell. I really like my Shield and at the time bought it over the LC9.
