Hello folks, just bought a Saiga, 7.62x39, skeleton stock, carbine. Weather has been bad and I have not shot her yet. What add-ons do ya'll suggest, and who makes the best aftermarket magazines? The one's from Saiga are a little high IMO. Well, alot high. I appreciate any and all advice, K.C. :)

Surefire mags are very good, but expensive. I've heard a lot of bad reports about Promags, so I'd avoid those.
For scope or red-dot, the UTG quick-release mounts are good; hold zero well. The non-quick-release models aren't as good, as they can be ruined by over-tightening the bolts.

Enjoy!

What MD said. The Combloc AK mags are the best. All you need to do is install a bullet guide.

Not exactly.

One must add a bullet guide, file the mag latch and swap enough US made compliance parts (four) to be legal. That said it is a simple task and is worth it not only for the cheaper mags one can use but also for the improvements one can make to the rifle.

Check out the saiga forums. They have a wealth of information and you can see pleanty of pictures of mods that can be done to the rifle.

for add-ons, I suggest a G2 trigger, new followers, etc., a pistol grip, K-var furniture, a bullet guide, and a new gas piston/bolt assembly:D

This is mine... just modified a few things. You can get the front grip here:
