SGM Tactical will be releasing shortly their new 50 round 9mm G17 magazine. The magazine is made of polymer and will work with any firearm that accepts a standard G17 magazine.

Here's a review of the new magazine:

It should be available shortly through your normal channels. At the asking price I can foresee these being popular items.

Looks like it is well made. Cost @ $69 isn't out of line either. Might have to get one.

I'll be watching reports to see how well made and reliable these are. If they are like their saiga mags they should be OK range mags but nothing I would rely on for anything serious. I have very little interest in using it in any of my glocks but agree with smalls, it could be fun with my Sub 2k.

As to Midway taking pre orders, it appears they merely list it as something that is coming but that it cannot be added to one's shopping cart.

Tacticool. The 33 round glock mags are a way better option. Look at that snail magazine flip around under recoil. In a pistol the drum is completely useless. In a subgun gives you slightly higher capcity than a glock mag with too many tradeoffs

I can carry 6-8 rouns in a smg mag pouch easily. To equal 8x33rnds you neeed 4 or 5 drum mags how are you going to carry them?

They do cause the muzzle to rise more. The weight of the magazine tends to rock tend to rock forward causing the muzzle to climb more than it normally would.

As I mention in the video, it's a novelty. However I do have a form 1 out on a Glock 17 and I will put it in a KPOS stock with this 50 round drum and a AAC suppressor. That should be an interesting setup.

I think I'll just wait and see if all that weight suspended below the rotation axis eventually causes stress cracks. It just looks a little too much like a weighted pendulum to suit me.

One can carry those in male purse. I would rather throw my money at <$20 Korean-made
33 round G18 mags.

If I owned G18 I could see myself getting couple of those drums. I'm sure they will sell more then a few to 'Zombie crowd'.

The more I thought about using one of these in a Sub 2K, it made me ponder the wonderful build quality and robust nature of that rifle and I'm actually a little concerned for the Sub 2ks mag catch with all that weight. Maybe I'll let some others try it out first and see how it goes. I like my Sub 2K as cheap fun PCC, they simply are not robust guns though.
