Figured the mods wouldn't like my rhyming title. Fifty plus years of shotgunning, trap, skeet, hunting, is going to change for this "seasoned" shooter. Did great this year, finishing second at my home club, second at th big club with my team and first at a new to me club with our age group team there. Now, several health setbacks. Severe stenosis in aortic valve. During workup before surgery four one heart artery 100% blocked, another 80%. There weeks ago I got a stent in the 80%. Tuesday, the 15th, I had TAVR, surgery to replace the valve. Went great. Thurday, heart would stop, start, and quick to the ER. Temp external pacemaker followed by a permanent one on Friday.
Asked the surgeon if, after the six week "No lift left arm very high" restriction, if I could go back to shooting trap. "Left or right?" He asked. " Right". "Three months, go easy, have fun".
I'm already planning. Dig out the 1100 Trap. Start loading some 1150 fps 1 ounce #8s, finish cardio rehab and go for it.
Merry Christmas to all my HR friends. It is great to be here. God bless you all. Hug your families as tomorrow is never guranteed.
Stan, the 76 year old second time survivor.

Good to hear your on the road to recovery from your cardio mishaps! It's amazing what they can do to get your heart repaired and back into working order. Just take things slow and don't overdo it once you get the green light to resume your shotgun activities.

And a Merry Christmas to you my friend and here's to a healthier and happier New Year!

Your still on the right end of the shovel so take care of yourself. You have a shooting title to defend. Merry Christmas and keep up the good work.

Great to hear, PapaG! It's a bit chilly at the moment anyway; relax, enjoy, listen to the Dr. You'll be out tooting on the 27 yard line before you know it!

I have been loading the 7/8oz loads that run about 1125fps, still function fine in my 11-87, and will crush birds back to the 20 yard line with ease. Going slower with light loads just make the pattern stay tight without a bunch of flyers spreading out. I use the same load for skeet in all my 12 gauge guns. I drop to 3//4oz in 20 gauge and stay with 3/4oz in 28 gauge and the 1/2oz in .410. I don't shoot lots of trap, but if I get to handicap ranges I will bump up to a little more hot round.

What's wrong with a children's book called "Little Toot." Published by My Weekly Children's Reader, by Hardie Gramatky, 1939. Little Toot was a tug boat could do things the new big tug boats could not...because he would try harder than others. Sounds about right. LOL
