I have a stick ordered to do some testing
This looks to be a fantastic carbon steel

A collaborative design between Knife Steel Nerd's Larrin Thomas and Pop's Knife Supply.

This carbon steel has the perfect balance between toughness and edge retention. It's extremely forgiving to heat heat treat, with exceptional hardness and ultra fine grain structure. It's also an alternative for 15N20 in making high performance damascus. This steel has great stability in quench and is easy to work with and grind, even at higher hardnesses.

1550 degrees with a 450 temper lands at 62HRC.

Further heat treat information will be available upon completion of further testing.

C- .866 Si - .215. Mn - .352 Cr - .24 Ni - 1.99 V - .23 W - 1.23

There's the regular Knife Steel Nerds website and he has a YouTube channel.

He's also been on other social media sites, talking about new steels, what's happening now that Crucible closed...

that should really help bring the cost down 🤪

In seriousness it sounds like an awesome steel that's still only half as amazing as the tool/art you create.

They seem so far out of my league I've been afraid to look for a price and just enjoy the pics 🫠

I just talked to Larrin about the new steel
It is being made in Europe

This stuff is capable of very high hardness and very high toughness with great abrasion resistance

After some testing I’m gonna make a run of knives with Procut

Anybody want to be a tester?

I like the design. How much with the procut steel and black oxide?
I don’t know yet, I’m gonna make a few knives and test them thoroughly before I make them to sell.
I’m sure it’s gonna be an awesome steel because Dr Larrin Thomas is the knife steel genius of our time
I’m really excited to make some knives in Procut

I’m excited to hear about it! How thick are you thinking of the blade? .125?
