Was at a local gun shop yesterday & they have in stock the new .45 caliber Cougar. $419 NIB. If it's anything like my 9MM cougar (1500 flawless rds fired) it's a great value. Looks like I'll be adding a .45 to my collection.

IMHO these are the best bang for the buck when it comes to a *new* pistols since it was a former Beretta.

    Used pistols is another story.

Just picked one up at Cabela's just a few minutes ago in .40 and it seemed to be a very solid, well-built firearm. I've been looking around for one in .45, but can't find anything local.

I have had the Stoeger Cougar in .40 for about a month. I spent $399 for it, actually only $54 when I traded my Taurus Model 100 .40 cal (The Beretta 92clone but in .40SW) for it. I have fallen in love with the gun! Compared with my Taurus, the kick is very mild. I guess the rotating barrel takes some of the recoil out. Ergonomics is excellent and is a natural pointer. I easily group 2" at 10 yards with rapiud acquisition of the target.
