I remember stories that my dad told me about his WWII service. He was a light armorer and was basically a gunsmith for a while before being a gunner on a B 29. He loved the 1911's and thought they were the best thing ever invented.I have never handled or fired one, but after a little research, I thought I might "need" one.I picked up a RIA 1911 A1 at a local show for $379.after looking at all the various versions of the same gun. I wanted a version that most closely resembled the gun my dad was so enamored with. Well, I couldn't be happier. The RIA shoots nice groups and appears to be well machined out of quality materials. The 1911 is FUN to shoot, and packs a wallop with 230 grain FMJ ammo.No problems to report. This RIA 1911 A1 has to be one of the best bargains out there. Chuck.

Your father was right. While there are numerous quality handguns on the market, it is hard to find any one handgun that has all of the qualities of the 1911 A1.

I appreciate your father's service.

I recently bought myself a Charles Daly 1911, and I love it to death. Charles Daly is sold by the same company as your RIA (Armscor), and is sort of the "higher-end" version of RIA. I was originally looking to buy a RIA, but the last minute realization that the Charles Daly came with a beavertail safety installed changed my mind!

Enjoy shooting your Rock, I know I enjoy shooting my CD! They're excellent pistols, for a very, very reasonable price.

The issue 1911 I had when in the MP's back in the 1960's was not a pretty gun, it was loose as a goose, not target accurate but it went "bang" every time. It was designed as a military sidearm and it filled the bill.
Enjoy shooting yours as much as I do my 1991 A1 Colt.

Welcome, 1911 is an addiction. Before you know it you will be buy your second and third...... There are a lot of better design pistol in the market, but the 1911 is most fun to shoot platform of them all. With all the 1911 aftermarket parts you can truly personalize one to your taste. Enjoy and have fun.

I have a Springfield GI model 1911 and an STI Spartan. I'm hooked! I've been eyeing the RIA Officer's Model as the basis of a new project gun. :D

1911s are addicting, so don't enjoy your new one TOO much. ;)
