IIRC, these are based on the Walther P99. My FiL researched them and has wanted one for a while now. I ran across one in nice condition for $199. I'll take it with me next time we go shooting together. If he likes it, he can have it for cost. If not, I'm willing to be "stuck with it" for the price.

Does anyone own one? What kind of ammo does it like? Mine came with the box and all of the contents. I'm not fond of the hard plastic holster it came with. Can anyone suggest a good holster?

I probably won't get to shoot it until next weekend. :(

Had a TP9SA for a few years, great gun.

Yours looks like one of the original DAO with the decocker? If so, from all accounts they seem to be just as well admired as the newer ones. Some folks did not care for the trigger but I have no first hand experience with the original TP9.

Holsters are probably out there, I dont know if yours would work with the newer models holsters, if it would then you'd have plenty of options as lots of folks are making holsters for the newer TP9's.

I know the canik tp series likes anything. I mean it. One of my close friends owns one and he regularly feeds it questionable ammo. (Not bad reloads, just steel cased and cheeeeeaaap factory) It eats that stuff like a fat kid on cake. He’s got one of the striker fired ones and the decocker always kinda perplexed me.

I've owned several Canik Tp9s. All very reliable! I had a 1st gen TP9sa, I currently have the Tp9SFX (best striker type trigger ever that I have fired) and a Tp9sf Elite. The elite is about the same size as a Glock 19. I personally like the TP9 triggers better than Glock triggers. Shorter reset and easier to get on target for me.

I think Caniks are one of the best values out there in striker fired handguns.

Only have a TP9sfx model but it has become a favorite. No hint of a hic-up any time. Shoots very tight groups. You'll like it I suspect. Great price. Enjoy.

I have a Canik TP9SFx and like it real well. Have had it for about 6 months and it has shot everything I have fed it and has ran 100 % The Canik's have a very good trigger out of the box and one of the shortest trigger resets of any gun on the market. I put an Apex flat faced trigger in mine and it eliminated 99% of the trigger take up. It felt like a totally different gun with the Apex trigger. Put a Vortex Venom red dot sight on it and love the sight. Makes shooting at indoor ranges with poor light a piece of cake.

For the money they are a good buy. You are basically getting a Walther for less price.

I hope to shoot it this weekend. The trigger feels very nice. I put the larger factory grips on it, which wasn't as easy as I would have preferred.

The original TP9 is based on the Walther P99 so a Walther P99 holster should work.
