Sounds like u got a good deal!! Love my 7.5". Biggest issue was the stock's. Herretts changed that for the better. 9.5 has to be great at the range!

I am a very large person with XXL hands, so the size, weight, recoil, etc won't be a problem for me. I hope to take it out to the range this weekend. I'm not sure if I have any 44 specials laying around. If so, I'll shoot a few cylinders of those to "warm up", and then start in with the magnums. If not, it'll just be magnums from the get-go. I have a box of hunting ones from... Winchester, I think? They didn't bother me with the 6" 629, so they should be NBD at all from this monster.

Maybe it's just me, but it seems like my longer-barreled revolvers have less felt recoil than similar ones with shorter barrels. The shorter-barreled ones seem louder, too, but perhaps I'm just confused.

My SRH-7 was the most accurate Revolver I owned, the recoil was about on par with my KGP-141.

The only real negatives was gun weight and ammo cost, the concussion was a bit of an issue, for me a .45C +p is a better choice.

i have a 7.5 SRH and a smith 29-4 8 3/8. i like the triggers of both guns. the wide grooved trigger of the smith is not too suited for da compared to the ruger. my pistol cleaning rod was too short for 8 3/8. i found the rod for cleaning the chamber of an AR the perfect rod for the longer revolver barrel especially paired with a muzzle /crown guard..
