I was running errands and stopped by the LGS to say hello.

I chatted with my friend who is now the manager there. He didn't have anything in the cases that I was interested in. I was about to leave, then he mentioned that he had a gun in the back that he was planning to buy himself, but maybe I could save him some money.

It was a 629 with fancy grips and sights, and a ported barrel. It had barely been shot (they got it from a regular customer who is a collector and doesn't shoot much). It's a "classic" with fancy grips and very nice sights. He had the box, original papers, and a spare set of black rubber grips.

I ended up making probably a not very good deal by trading five lesser handguns for the 629 straight-up.

The DA trigger is not that great, but it hasn't really been broken in (almost zero turn line). The SA trigger is excellent. I am looking forward to shooting it in the next few days. It fits my XXL hands very well.

I have never owned a Model 629 or 29. Any advice towards cleaning, maintenance, ammo, or holsters would be much appreciated.

Looks good to me! Im not a .44 guy, but the first centerfire revolver I ever shot was a 629 Classic Hunter (I was 12), so I still admire them.

I dont know if the dash5s already had the durability package from the factory or not, but its something you may want to look into.

    Nice gun, bro.:)

That sir, is a fine gun. My first revolver purchased over 25 years ago was a DX classic, here with the original rubber grips. It is one of my favorites.

I use a plain Bianchi holster:

Congratulations. Welcome to the 629 Club. I have no advice. I just shoot it, clean it, and put it away.
