I have just gotten my first shotgun on the urging of a friend to join him in skeet/sporting clay shooting. I also wanted a gun that could double for home defense. I settled on a Rem 1100 with a synth stock and bead blasted finish. It has a 28" ribbed bbl and a skeet choke.

I also purchased an older 1100 smooth barrel I had cut down to 20" for a home defense configuration. My question is about the older barrel. It has a bright polish blue finish. I want to bead blast the barrel to match the rest of the gun. Will I then need to reblue the barrel as well, or will the process just matt the barrel without removing the blue?

Unfortunately, bead blasting will remove all finish from the barrel, leaving it in the white. I blasted my entire 1100 a couple of years ago and liked the color so much that i had it electroless nickelplated. Pimp shottie.
