Hi all,

I've been reading this site for the last year or so and now I need some help. I've looked everywhere and thought maybe someone here could help me.

I recently purchased a Simmons WTC 6.5 X 20X50 scope and want to put it on an Interarms Mark X rifle that I've had since I was 12 (Which was a long long time ago).

I had a tasco scope on it but the Simmons won't fit as the mounts are too far apart to fit the scope. I had the same problem last year when I finally bought a new scope (Nikon) for my Remington BDL. I found a weaver front base that was longer than normal to make it work.

I'm looking at the Millet 2 piece system from Midway but the rings are only med height so I don't think they'll fit. I'd hate to have to buy the whole set and then buy high or extra high rings just to make it work.

Has anyone else tried mounting this scope on one of these rifles with a longer action and if so, what would be the best set-up?

Thanks for any help.

Kenny

Simmons WTC 6.5 X 20X50 scope?

You should be able to loosen the ring screws and slide the rings around on the scope wherever they need to be to fit the base on the receiver.

What am I missing here???

I'm probably not explaining it well...

When using the weaver based mounts, the rings will only fit in the slotted grooves of the mounts. When they are installed on the mounts, the scope will not fit as there is too much space between the rings for the scope. You can mount the front or back of the scope to the rings, but the opposite end will not match up with the tube, it matches up with the bell of the scope.

The only way I can see around it, and the way I did it on my Rem BDL was to use an elongated front mount, which moved the front ring back further so that it matched up with the scope tube and not the bell. I'm wondering if there is a weaver (or some other type) mount made that's made for this problem for this rifle. Once I get the mounts right, then I have to find the right height rings to get the scope up off the rifle.

All in all, I probably should have just left the tasco scope on it, but I thought it was time for an upgrade, as this scope has been on this rifle since 1972.

I hope this explains things better.

I think I understand.
Apparently, the 50mm bell extends back so far before you get to the main tube, there is not enough main tube left?

You need Extension rings.

Thanks so much...

I must have missed those when I looked at the weaver site. They look like they would work perfectly.

I just spent 2 hours trying different combos of mounts and rings and found a combo that would work but the eye relief isn't much and since it's a 30-06 I will probably order the rings you linked.

Thanks again,

Kenny
