Just wondering- are there any plans for another bay area shoot? Seems like we haven't had one in a while. Spring is coming up, and that seems like a good time to do one...

I'm just going to bump this up in case the bay area members didn't see it...

Hey! What's that up in the sky!

Why I do believe it's a BIG ORANGE BALL!

    ALL HAIL B.O.B.!

If this keeps up, we most definately need to set up a THR NorCal Mob shoot.

I hearby propose the first Saturday in April (the 3rd) as a 'Good Day To Shoot'. Los Altos Rod and Gun has been pretty good for us in the past; we can do the bbq thing again.

    Sound like a plan?

Pipsqueak- we can carpool if you're up for it. I'll try and get ahold of the other SF crew, MadKiwi, LabRat, etc.

    Looks good to me...
We'll see how people like that date, and I'll check with my dad to make sure he's free that day to drive up there. The bbq thing sounds good, too, if there aren't all those damn yellowjackets.

Crap, I'm on call that weekend. I went down to Los Altos R&G Club last Sunday to play with my lever action. It was c-o-l-d!!. When I first got there the big orange thing was trying to break thru, but was overwhelmed by lots of gray stuff, and then called a stiff breeze for back-up. I'm surprised I even got on the paper. If April 10th or 11th is chosen I'm in.

    best, RG

I'm up for it. Bought a new Colt this week, and it will need extensive testing, after all... ;)

Hey, it's me, Jack, THR's resident "never-shot-a-gun" dude. :what:

    Yeah, you heard me. :uhoh:

I can maybe get one or both of my parent's (I'm 15) up for it. What are the associated costs? Cover fee, parking, hearing/sight protection. Also, what should I bring? Ammo? Food if we have a barbecue?

If this goes through, I'm going to be unbeleivably happy.

Count me in too unless it conflicts with any classes.

My dad is still thinking about it, but it's probably a go. After a few more people sign on maybe Sven or someone could make an "official" thread.

Anyone can make an official thread - put the date in the title and I will lock this one and leave a redirect to the new thread.

Well, yeah, but you have all the pics and stuff of the gun club and you can make a "pretty post".

Ok so this is shaping up nicely! Now if we can just keep up this level of enthusiasm until the actual range day!

    So:

linky link to Los Altos Rod & Gun .

Range fees are $12.00 for adults and $6.00 for 17 and under. Eye and ear protection is mandatory and available for rent at the check in booth.

    Parking is included.

Ammo and targets available for sale at the booth as well, but can be expensive- I'd recommend getting your ammo and targets before hand if you can.

They have a soda machine and water fountain on site; it can get prety hot up there in high summer but I doubt that will be a worry.

They have a 40yrd. tin can range where you can blow up plastic water bottles and tin cans (you bring 'em...duh) AND they allow rapid fire on that range- .22 ONLY!

I've got a big bag of plastic water bottles I've been saving up. And this time I promise to bring ammo for the AK...

They have a pretty nice bbq and picnic table area on the left as you pass the check in booth.

I'll bring the World Famous QuarterBore Thai Barbecue Chicken That’s Good To Eat™. Also the plastic knifey spoony stuff. And probably some sodas and water. Can anyone pop for the bbq brickets and fire starter stuff?

edit:I always forget something; I've got a case of .223 to burn through (PMC 55grn - I'm switching to Fed M193) and probably a case of NATO .308 so if anyone has those calibers, I'm sharing the love.

If we decide to go, we can probably bring some charcol briquets and some other food.

I'm not sure about this new forum, I think people are less likely to come here on a regular basis, therefore less likely to see announcements like this. People like me just hang out in General, L&P, and occasionally I'll go into into non-firearm weapons. It's not that often I check the other forums.

    Like there's ever enough.

    Ok I'm in for:

    M1A
    couple 'o ARs
    Rem 700 LTR
    Romanian AK
either the Weatherby 22-250 or the Tikka 22-250 (or both)
    Winnie Tanker Garand
    NAA 32 (why not?)
and whatever I think of at the last moment.

    Requests?
