Lovely lines on Boker's Exskelibur, but there's just not enough protection in a push cut on that handle shape near the blade for how I use a knife. I grant that would have interfered with the flowing lines, but even a little more "speed bump" on the way to the blade would have helped. Others might not consider it a problem since their cutting may all be draw cuts, but for me ... nope.

I'm curious. How do you use a knife that makes these a no-go?

For instance, I have a Schrade Old Timer that I've used to slice and dice lots of things, but I wouldn't use it the same way I've used other knives: for instance, chipping ice apart, prying stapled boards apart, stabbing into heavy packaging material, wooden crates, thin sheet metal. Most of my cutting could be done with the Schrade, which offers nothing in the way of built-in safety (no lock, no guard, not even a very grippy handle), but I really enjoy using other folders that cover the broadest ranges of my applications, and so I do. Heck, I do so even though I no longer hold the jobs that made my use of the sturdier, finger-protecting grips/guards, stout locking blades a good idea.

I have SAKs that I limit how I use for the same reasons, but if I'm buying a knife that size and price I want the full range of uses. That's why I carry both a Victorinox Farmer and a Sebenza.

Gotcha. Thanks for the reply. Much the same, here. I have, many times, been asked, "How many knives do you carry?" Most days that's two. Some days it's three. And then there are still other days...

Boker has a lot of designs and collaborations that I think are cool, but I have the same problem with them as I do with CRKT. The execution just isn't there. Although the materials on their knives tends to be higher quality than CRKT.

I do use a lot of draw cuts, but I would still prefer more finger protection.

I agree, you never know what situation you'll be in and how you may have to hold or cut with a knife. I want something to keep my hand from sliding up on the blade.
