I am looking to replace the standard sights on my XD .45 with a good set of night sights. Anyone have suggestions on a reliable website to order from? Are they hard to install? Will I have to ship the slide back to Springfield for installation? If not and I use a gunsmith will it void the warranty?

Use the search, I put a Dawson Precision red fiber optic front on my XD9, removing the original was a PITA. Don't plan on doing it yourself without reading that thread first.

I've become a real fan of the XS 24/7 system, especially with advancing age and declining visual acuity. I've never used anything as fast to acquire a usable sight picture with in poor light. There is an option for a smaller "standard" dot for increased precision at longer ranges.

While I'm not real familiar with exactly how the XD's sights are secured, I installed them on my own Para C7.45 LDA with no particular trouble. If your front is pinned in its dovetail, a roll pin punch of the proper diameter would be a must. If you've got a bench vise, are relatively handy, and exercise care it should be a viable DIY.

I'm fairly sure that the sights are designed to be pressed out only in one direction. (which way that is I am at a momentary loss to remember)

And from what I've heard, even going in the correct direction can be a very exasperating ordeal.

Zeke Menuar,

Thanks so much for the referal to springerprecision. I just contacted Scott and I think I am going to send my XD over to him for night sights and a custom trigger job. I would have never found this info had it not been for you and everyone here at THR. Thanks again!
